so.....

I haven't been online for a couple weeks, because this is what I woke to one night....

Of course, my driveway is much higher than my road, so it could have been worse, but at its worst, the water was just above the top of my wheels. By the time the water was down to here:

I was able to get my cars pulled out, but unfortunately, they are both pretty F'ed up now. Batteries die in my Lincoln in no time, half the stuff doesn't work now, and the bonneville doesn't run anymore.

Been too depressed about it to even log onto this forum, since it just makes me think about it more. Have had to stay at friends places, trying to get things squared away before the kids come back for the school year in a week and a half, and trying to get my poor cars working again. Too many bills and obligations to do much else.... Oh well, I'll figure something out. Just felt like venting, and apologizing to the people on the political discussion part of this forum, wouldn't want them to think I just ran off on them. I'll be around once I figure out this flooding thing....

That suxs!!!!!!!! I would not try to start them untill you can dry them out!!! Not sure where the ecu's are mounted?, But if they are wet and you power them up they will fry

damn man that sucks! not sure on the laws in SC but in IL if the water is higher than the rockers its totaled.
where my father in law lives the town rerouted the river, and every time the river swells it takes the original path :slam: i stored my explorer there till maybe 3 years ago, when i got the call and walked waist deep for a 1/4 mile through some of the blackest water only to discover this, but in the end i got a better explorer so fukk that silver 2 door POS

That's awful.
Has the water receded yet so that the town can start drying out their lives?
Most of us have MarkVIIIs around here, but we can probably all figure out what's broken on your Conti.

The water receded a couple times, I got the car moved. Thankfully, most of the town didn't flood. Some of the low parts of town had some flooding over the last month, but nothing bad for most of it. I'm above the bluff, but I am also on the edge of town, and apparently the fields I am next to are prone to flood. Most of the bad flooding was several miles away from town. The water was completely gone from my place though the day before yesterday, so I moved my conti back home so that it would be more convenient to work on. Then yesterday, it barely sprinkled, and I thought nothing of it when I looked outside at it sprinkling. A couple hours later I walked home for lunch, only to see the water up to the tops of my rocker panels again. My landlord got pretty snotty with me when I asked them where the F the water came from and when they were going to do something about drainage. Kinda the wrong attitude to take with me considering my place has been primarily inaccessible nearly half of the last month, and is currently inaccessible again.

I've had the battery unhooked, so I would think there isn't more damage to the car, this time it is just insult to injury, but trying to track down whatever shorts are draining the battery are frustrating. Plus I can't really figure out why my drivers seat isn't working.... not that that is a huge problem, since it is in the correct position for me to drive, so that means most people I know cannot borrow it (Silver lining).... but none the less, I hate the fact that there is something in the car not working. Other than that, the battery seems to need replacing. Blower doesn't work. Neither mirror works. No door chime. My charger doesn't read the battery as bad, but, even trickle charging, it charges it awful fast, and the battery only really stores enough energy to crank the car over for around 5-8 seconds even at a full charge. The starter does not seem to be drawing excessive voltage. I did not attempt to start either of my cars that were here until both had been drug out of the water and given a day to dry out.

Only thing I know for sure.... I'm looking for another at least 3 bedroom place to rent, and I will be breaking my rental contract, since I found that flooding here seems to have been a problem for years, and my landlord hasn't disclosed that to me, nor have they ever made any effort to fix it. I wanted to be able to wash stuff inside my old shop during the winter, since it was north dakota, and it is kinda hard to turn a power washer onto a truck at -40, so we cut a couple holes in the floor and built large sewer drains. No reason my landlord couldn't have done the same. I'm on a private road, so it isn't the cities responsibility.....
