I have done two burnouts in the My Mark VIII:) (Light ones)Every time it starts to slide in one direction. All the burnouts I have seen of the Mark VIII's, they seem to stay put but mine turns into one direction. So how do you keep the car to stay put in the same spot?

I have only done that once in my Mark and it will be the last time I do. I don't want to break it.

Sound like both your wheels are spinning, its not a bad thing, most one wheel wonder and thats why they don't move around. Mine does both, sometimes one, and sometimes both. I don't do it alot but enough to see its different sometimes on how it reacts.

If you are on an even surface you should be able to spin both tires. If not only one will spin.

I have done a few good burnouts in my mark and it all depends lol I've sat next to my friend while he walked all the way down his street going sideways at like 2 mph...and then another time I've done a long one in a straight line

Like this. :D

Almost looks like both spin in the end. Might just be the smoke.

i think i got enough traction at the end. In the 300C there is an LSD so got both spinning.

i think its cool when the ass slides out. more challenging and puts on a better show. thats why i always do mine when im turning right a an intersection... but one of these day... i know someones gonna get my plate #....

thats the reason my trans is now slippin i think. the last big smokey burnout i did i fishtailed it into a couple doughnutz.....and now its slipping.

Yes, burnouts are hard on drivetrain parts. Unless you really know what you are doing, and how to do it in moderation, I would not recommend it. ;)

Poo poo.

How is spinning the wheels hard on the drivetrain? Do not the wheels spin when you're driving?

Doing extensive burnouts may be hard on the rear brakes without a trans-brake or brake-lock.

Doing an extended burnout without an adequate transmission cooler may overheat your tranny fluid.

Doing a burnout until your tire explodes may cause body damage.

Other than the given examples, how are burnouts hard on drivetrain parts?

well, i dunno about you, but i can't think of any other situation where my car revs high in the stationary position.....any kind of throttle dump is hard on the drivetrain....

Worn or broken torque converter sprags.

This has been pretty common knowledge for some time, which is why spragless torque converters were pioneered. My friend runs a transmission shop down in Fort Lauderdale, and everytime he would get a car with a mysterious amount of melted rubber in its fenders and transmission trouble, the torque converter was always either blown, or the sprag was busted.

It is true that a properly built transmission with a solid torque converter (like my Fury) will not have such problems, but how many people out there actually have a built transmission?

Oh yeah, and there is also axle breakage and suspension damage from wheelhop.

Would 132 burnouts be excessive?

How 'bout 264 PLUS hard throttle dumps?

... and them's just the ones I have slips for. :p
