Just picked up a set of folding mirrors with puddle lights off an 03...as you could probably guess I've got an 01. Im not too familiar with the folding mirrors...the drivers side has got 14 wires, pass. sides got 12...possibly heated drivers side and pass. side is not?

As the title states, if anyone's in need or wants a set I'm willing to sell. If not, I'll gladly keep and eventually tackle the job of making em work on my car. Color code on the car was HC I believe...it was like an ivory-ish, off white-ish color. There is one light scratch on the pass. side mirror, other than that they are in very good shape for being 11 or so years old.

They are manual folds, not electric ... at least I thought, I'm 1st GEN owner also, no fold nor puddle.
Both Gens have warmers and I do believe electronic dimming ??? <-- double check, not 100% sure.

I might be wrong but I don't think they are anything electric fold. If I had owned a 2nd GEN I would know better, others will chime in shortly I'm sure.

Memory position from preference settings I do believe.

for my 2006 that would be correct however may depend on option packages - Manual Fold, heated, and do electrically adjust for each of the 2 memory seating buttons/positions

They are both manual folding and unfolding.
They are both heated.
They both have puddle lights.
They both are power aim (adjust).
The driver's side one has electronic dimming (driven by a signal from the auto-dimming rear view mirror).

1. I feel like an idiot now
2. That's kind of a let down
3. I feel like the folding part of the equation shoulda been the standard across all years with the puddle light/dimming part being the option.

Been on this site since 07 (didn't join until 2010) before I bought my car and all this time I thought the ppl that periodically popped up looking for these mirrors were after auto folding/unfolding mirrors.

I guess that'd be just one more thing to break anyway

Heated mirrors activated when the rear defrost is selected is pretty standard stuff in the automotive world.
Not like it's an extra luxury option or something. Maybe back in the 80's it was.

I always thought the VIN build info had an interesting line seeming to say the mirrors were folding, but all it says in POWER (I guess for the lights and dimming feature).

Not my car, and it could be a Gen 1 (late 2002 Gen 1 build or early 2003 Gen 2 build)

People want the folding mirrors because they are nicer in style. I just manually fold them if I am parking in an area where my mirrors could be smashed.

An electric folding mirror would likely have to come from another vehicle and thus be an entirely different mirror.

2) As in they're not power folding/folding? Yea, that would have been nice but probably added too much weight. Also don't know what the added cost would have been in '02 when they were developed.
3) It is. If the LS has folding mirrors they are manual.

Heated and power mirrors are standard on every LS. The memory function was/is standard on every LS with memory seats; which would be all but a base (I believe '00-'02) V6.
