Old Gays Mills.. you know Torquemonkey's town... with Gay's street... LOL

We've been getting hit by a lot of rain and the low areas are getting it bad as the watter runs off the bluffs...

For those who remember the cruise.... theat brige in Gays Mills had about
3 ft of water rushing over it...

In Wisconsin, up to 12 inches of rain triggered a mudslide that pushed a house onto state Highway 35 in Vernon County, said Wisconsin Emergency Management spokeswoman Lori Getter. No injuries were reported.
Residents of downtown Gays Mills, Wis., were taken to a fire station, and a state of emergency was in effect there. The entire downtown was flooded and water was 4 feet deep in some homes, Gilson said.

In Wisconsin, more than 200 homes were flooded in the Crawford County communities of Gays Mills and Soldier Grove, each with about 600 to 640 residents. Some houses had water 4 feet deep from the nearby Kickapoo River, said Donna Gilson, a spokeswoman at emergency management's Madison headquarters.

Amanda Crayne woke up Sunday in Gays Mills to find water up to the dining room windows. She dialed 911 and woke the six children, ages 6 months to 9 years.

"I grabbed diapers and baby wipes and formula and that was all I grabbed," Crayne, 26, said as she hunkered down with the children at a Red Cross shelter Sunday night.

More than 60 people were evacuated from a nursing home in nearby Soldiers Grove, and 23 others were evacuated from an apartment complex.

As the light rain continued to fall in southwestern Wisconsin on Monday morning, there were stark reminders of the flooding. River bluffs and hillsides were pockmarked by mudslides and tree limbs littered roads.

June Jones, 52, has to cross a creek to get from her mobile home in Richland Center. Neighbor Joy Rux, 77, and her husband knocked on Jones' door Sunday and told her police said they should leave. The three were at a Red Cross shelter Sunday night.

"It looked like the Mississippi," Rux said. "It came up so fast."

Also We crossed this bridge last year on the cruise. It's about 5 miles from my house. The just put this new bridge in this summer and it's now washed out. I was on it last night over night more of it washed away.
