Stopped by the local Lincoln Dealer last week to pick up a set of OE front pads for the V8 LSE. Parts guy offered me "OEM" pads for about $100 or so bucks, and also offered an option of "Ford Value Pads" for about half that. He didnt know the difference. A visual inspection only showed that the OEM had much larger chamfering(sp?) area on the ends of the pads. I'm guessing the compounds must be much different..but who knows. I havent installed them yet but I'll report back when I do.

anyone know the difference? fastpartsnetwork.com doesnt even show the value pads as an option

I got a set (front & rear) of Duralast Gold C-Max for ~$120. They are very low dusting, quiet and put the OEM pads to shame in the stopping department. I think I got them at Kragen (O'Reilly's), but any parts store should have them.

I actually think Im going to return them. (my parts guy is cool..said I could return them with no restocking fee/issue if I decided I didnt want them before installing). I've had excellent results in the past on other cars with the Duralast Ceramics, and Advance (or is it Autozone) has a lifetime warranty on them for free replacement as long as you dont wear them down to the backing plate. In fact, I have them on the rear now and a year ago they cost me nothing. Bought them, took the old ones in, and got my full credit of cost back. Cant beat that.

Napa ceramics

got my Napa ceramics at $80 an axle, low dust, no squeal, great pads.

'Value' usually equates to 'cheap'. JMO

+ a million. I have 'value' pads on my sentra. One day I was coming to a stop down a hill and the brakes just all of a sudden barely worked. My pedal was floored (car doesn't have abs, so the tires shouldve been locked up). When it finally did stop at a red light, smoke started pourin from the front of the car. Turns out it as them 'value' pads, that I still have on the car lol

Hi All

Ok a little bit about ford brake materials.
The OE pad (84.00 from me) linings are made for your particular vehicle taking all things into consideration...trac cont anti lock etc...

The motorcraft (value line I sell to used car dealers) are made by the batch and work for all vehicles, middle of the road compounds and they are generally about 25% less.
The value line works and stop the car or truck just fine, but may exhibit dust or noise on your particular car or truck or may be just fine. These would run you about 56.00 from me.

Go for ceramics. My wheels stay so cleeeeeean! Even when the rest of the car is covered in pollen :(
