I live in Solano county in central California. Last year we had five Ford dealers in the county, now three have closed leaving only two in small rural towns.

How's Ford doing in your area?

The Dodge dealer in town has closed too.

the Lincoln/Mercury dealership in Holland MI built a new beautiful dealership a few years back. they branched out a little, now they are also selling Vespa Scooters, and Suzukie cars. i don't know of any other Ford dealerships in the west michigan area closing

Denny hecker is taking a beating

Twin Cities auto dealer Denny Hecker is suing Chrysler Financial Services America, alleging that the lender acted in bad faith and significantly damaged Hecker’s business when it “suddenly and without notice” placed a hold on his credit lines in mid-October.

These are truly unimaginable economic times. Not since the Great Depression have the failures in
financial markets and the automotive industry been more apparent. Seeing the Big 3 in Washington
looking for a bailout package is an indication of how broken the domestic automotive industry has
become.

These conditions have led us to make tough decisions and to recognize that our business model is no
longer the right one for today's economic challenges. We have to learn from our experiences and we
must change to reflect the new economic reality. And, we are.

Effective immediately, I have restructured our business by closing a number of our dealerships and
selling others. This means a painful reduction in employees at these locations and I very much
regret the necessity of those actions.

Going forward, our management team will immediately focus on the remaining dealerships and
developing a new business model, one that delivers our customers less hassle, greater choice
and more bang for your buck.

Over the past 30 years, we have sold thousands of vehicles to you, to your children and to your families;
we look forward to continuing to do so for decades to come. We will be open for business as usual at
our remaining locations and will continue to work hard to earn your business.

I am a big believer in the saying, "Lead, follow or get out of the way" and believe the actions we have
taken today - difficult as they are - position us to be a leader in our industry and in our
community.

Thank you for your support and patronage.

I am glad I don't have to see him on T.V. anymore.

My local LM dealer was just acquired by a larger one outside of town. Not a huge concern to me, they were a bunch of incompetent a$$es.

Our two Ford dealers are still going strong, but each has a very sizable used vehicle business which I suspect is keeping them afloat right now.
