Just purchased my 2000 with 87,000 miles black LS non-sport, I hate to say base model. Is that correct? Anyway the front passenger headlight was holding alot of water. So being the self doer I am. I took of the headlight poured out the water and dried it out. Put new silicone around the seam. Installed new light bulbs. Tested them out and much to my amazement I saw a little MUSHROOM CLOUD appear from the front bumper. Did I mention the car was without blemish. I have a nice round indention with crispy edges on my bumper in front of the low beam. To add insult to injury the headlight seems to hold more water, I must have sealed up the weep hole.

So now I have a messed up front bumper with a foggy headlight now. should I bake the headlight or order a set with the new black sealant?

And the bumper what to do I am pretty good with bondo and paint but dont know how to prepare the plastic bumper for paint.

Anyone have a clue I could use one.

Gosh Idiot!

If your going to re-shoot the bumper yourself, you can scuff it with 400 wet or dry. Then prime it with etching primer. Wet sand again with 800 or 1000 paper. Clean surface with Prep Solvent, now your ready for paint. Good luck.

The light bulb without the housing was laying on the bumper when I turned on the lights. :slam :bash: :eek2:

Dude, if you want ur headlight to be normal again buy a new one. I had my LS's resealed and 1 didnt work at all and the other had moisture in it again within a few months. Just save the time and money and spring for a new set.

well not a new set. you can get them cheap on ebay. then you can clear them if you want. or maybe angel eyes, or at least seal them right.

Next time try putting a bead of silicone around the bulb seats. Let it dry and put the bulbs back in. You'll have to put a little bit more muscle into getting the bulbs back in but it's a much, much tighter seal. Same thing happened to me when I bought new headlights for my mustang. I put silicone around the edges of the housing to no avail. I then put more silicone around the bulb seat and VOILA haven't had a hint of moisture for two years now. Also if you get water spots in there just swish some rubbing alcohol in there. Washes water spots away and dries in no time flat.
