I am replacing my front top strut mounts this week, they are noisy and the rubber bushings are busting out of the metal.

I was wondering if anyone has done anything suspension wise like converting to poly-graphite bushings? I had a 79 trans am that i rebuilt the suspension on with a performance suspension technology kit, and it was very nice. Squeaky, but you'll have that.

I can get a mustang bushing kit, and since some of the mark vii parts are close....

Anyone?

It just seems dumb to replace the worn rubber bushings with new rubber ones when you can replace it with something better.

I used the polyurethane bushings out of an Energy Suspension kit for a Fox Mustang. I used the large bushing and hardware in a Monroe Strutmate kit, but I kept the flatter bushing rubber to reduce the chance that I might put too much stress on the strut shaft and snap it. I've read that happening, but I can't verify it. I'm not that impressed with the set up. There's just too much play allowed by the design. A better strut mount is really the Maximum Motorsport caster/camber plate. I'm switching to those this summer.

Poly squeaks.
They will piss you off.

OEM rubber bushings don't squeak.
Your current set lasted 14 years.
A new set is made better than the original set.

hmmm tough choice.
