what do you think? It still has to be straightened out in a few spots, and the ends where it meets the tires are going to be remedied tonight. When I zip tied the wheel wells up, they pulled those corners in. I just need to put a piece of plastic in those corners to reinforce it.

Reason why it's not finished yet is because the girlfriend was getting crabby, as I told her it would only take 20 minutes

Oh, and FYI, this project costs about 20 bucks TOTAL for anyone wanting to do it, and maybe 2 hours worth of time. Although mine took a little longer, since I had a foggy foglight to tend to as well.

Not sure if I like it yet. I'm waiting until I try to fix those ends where it meets the wheel. The way it sits there now is unacceptable to me.

Yeah, fix the corners and I think it will be perfect. It looks really good across the front. Good job.

doesnt look bad.... maybe if I saw it from a few different angles it would either seal the deal or show something not so nice about it. How did you mount it?

brave enough to sand, prime and paint that piece? I think itwould suit the light color a little better

ehhh..... based on how it looks now I'd pass, the way it sits now it just looks kind of cheap/rice imo but it's obviously an uncompleted project. I can also definitely sympathize with the gf getting on you about working on the car longer than you said you would. I think it has the potential to look good if you can make it sit right.

There's nothing to sand. It's a weatherstrip! foam rubber. If I did try to paint it, it would probably crack all over the place.

I attached it with molding tape, and probably 25 small screws.

it looks cheap because it is cheap. It's a damn weatherstrip for a garage door!

But like I said, worst case scenario, I'm out 20 bucks. And a pissed off girlfriend AGAIN because I'll have to change it back.

doesnt look bad. what was the price compared to the Mach 1 chin spoiler?

I think i like the mach 1 better, im not sure though. it depends on the angle, sometimes its to big sometimes it looks just right.

Total price at checkout at home depot was $20.90 with tax. That included the actual piece, a roll of outdoor double sided tape (from the paint section), and a bag of 20 half inch screws.

Needs Black Wow to blend in with the other trim. Not bad though.

True that. I only wiped it down with Power Clean before going inside for the night.

I think it looks pretty god for a piece of stick on rubber. Don't try to trim the rest of the car with it though. That would look kinda rice-ish.

i like it.... can use some minor touch ups, but i like it. Same look as the Mach 1 just much less pronounced

I've seen alot of guys do the weather strip thing on other forums... your car is so nicely set up that ....personally... it doesn't add much and I don't think you need it

but heh.... for 20.90 ...foook it

For 40$ you can get the stock chin spoilers off a 96-99.5 jetta or golf from the dealer (two piece). all you need is a few rivets and you have to trim the plastic to take the shape of the bumper and you are in business.
A little bit larger that what you did, but still subtle. Gives you a lower stance in the front.

What you did is still pretty hot.

any pics of this setup?

Here’s a couple photos after I fixed the ends. I ran to home depot and picked up some metal 90 degree elbow brackets, and attached them under the bumper cover at the ends, so I would have something to keep the lip from folding back at that crappy angle. I still need to paint the bolts black, so they blend in. I’m going to leave it on for a few days to see if I want to keep it. But I really think I’m just going to go back to the stock one. It’s just not the look I’m going for with the car I think. Who knows, maybe I’ll end up liking it after a few days.
