I posted here about the problems I was having with my 01 V8 ls. All the symptoms initially indicated faulty coils, so I purchased a set from eBay and it didn’t help the problem at all.
I then hooked the car up to an ODB reader and got some codes saying one bank was rich and one was lean, misfire in one cylinder, an egr error that is indicative of a bad injector and the plug in the misfiring cylinder was super fouled.
Anyway I finally got around to fixing the problem and figured if I was pulling one, I might as well pull all eight. It was kind of a pain, but they finally came out. I then took them to a guy who had a machine that tests spray and flow and then ultrasonic cleans them. We did replace some filters on the injectors that looked pretty dirty; I hope that was the problem…
Anyway I am having a hell of a time getting everything back together. Particularly the clips that attach the injector to the fuel rail and then the closest injector to the firewall on the driver’s side.
To put them together I have put them into the cylinder holes that then have fitted the fuel rail on top. This worked great for the passenger side but makes putting the clips on impossible. On the driver’s side, I cannot get the fuel rail to seat properly.
Can anyone help with suggestions? I am going about this the wrong way? What if this doesn’t solve my problem? Then what the heck could be wrong?
