I bought a fuel pressure gauge from summit but I need an adapter to fit the 4AN line to the 8AN one on the gauge. Any suggestions?

Are you putting the gauge on the fuel rail?

Removing the schrader valve - you need a 1/8" NPT male fitting to screw into the fuel rail. Most fuel pressure gauges will have 1/4" NPT male threads, so typically you require an adaptor - 1/8" NPT male X 1/4" NPT female. Brass or stainless steel.

Where are you putting the gauge? If you need the AN adaptors, find a dealer that has the complete line of Russell fittings.

what dose a fuel presur gauag do and can it work with a continental

Fuel = that's the gas your engine uses

Pressure = That's the PSI or Pounds per Square Inch that the fuel is at while the motor is running

Gauge: A device that is used to measure various things. In this case, it Measures and displays what the fuel pressure is.

No, it wont work for a Contiental. :why:

Yes it will work for a Conti! It will work for anything with fuel.

ok i still don,t understand ok then
whats the cost of one and how mouch to hook it up and is it worth it

I'm looking to put it on the fuel rail but i'm afraid of hood clearance problems. This is the one I got: http://store.summitracing.com/partd...art=SUM-800160&autoview=sku&Ntk=KeywordSearch. It says it will screw into any 1/8 NPT female port...

If it says that it screws into any 1/8 NPT female port, then it will screw directly into the fuel rail. Do not worry about hood clearance because with this one that several ppl are using on the Mark VIII. Driller used a 90 elbow and his sits nice, but I just recently put that gauge on another members car (jdlmkviii) and used just the blue adapter. It sits kinda high on the fuel rail, but clears the hood with no problem. So, I would imagine that that Summit gauge should work with no problem.

What you are going to have to do is remove the schrader valve to use your gauge. Just make sure to release the fuel pressure from the rail before removing the schrader valve.

Hope that helps.

Well then, your first post confused me when you asked about going from -4 AN on the line to -8 AN on the gauge. I though you might have been remote mounting a mega gauge somewhere with -4 AN hose fittings. Dash 4 size is equivalent to nominal 1/4" while dash 8 size is equivalent to nominal 1/2", and the fitting on the fuel rail for the schrader valve is 1/8" NPT(National Pipe Thread).

Wait a minute.....I thought the fuel rail was a 1/16" NPT vice a 1/8" NPT. If that is the case you will need the same adapter that driller used to mount that gauge..... :Beer

Dude, you're right! It is 1/16th NPT!! What was I thinkin'?!!!

Now i'm confused. So the adapter I need is the 1/8" NPT male X 1/4" NPT female?

No, you need a 1/16" male to 1/8" female adapter. The fuel rail schrader valve is 1/16" and the gauge is 1/8", so you need a 1/16" male to 1/8" female adapter.

You can get one from Summit part number ATM-3280, or from NOS.

Hope this helps.

Well I finally got the gauge hooked up. I think I may eventually get a braided hose and mount it outside the windshield if I ever get that dry shot. Anyone know what the fuel pressure is supposed to be at idle? It's at 30psi for me and goes to 35-40 when I rev it. With the cutouts open it goes to 40psi and with them closed it goes to 35psi.

I believe spec is 38 psi idle. No load revs do not give good pressure readings. You need an extension hose and duct tape the guage to the windshield and see what the psi is on a WOT run. Should stay up around 40.
