Hey Everyone. I've just joined this forum, my first, and would like to get some info from ur past experiences and knowledge. I currently own a 2000 LS v8 with 175,000 miles of which the last 6,000 have been w the common upper timing chain tensioner knock. I've had a 71 Guick GS 455 Stage 1 convertible for my first car in 1980 n Love goin fast ever since. I Love my LS but its slow, quiet, n I can't find enough mods to build up another 3.9 to get the 350rwhp I'd like. I've always loved the odd underdogs, which my GS was in 1980 when I bought it, but she never let me down on weekends and ALWAYS beat out the stock camaros, GTO's, Boss 302, 428, and yes even the Boss 429's. Hemi's were bad ass but my Stage 1 455 had over 500ft pnds of torque and 335hp rating to make ins companies happy.
Now I have another under dog my 2000 3.9 LS. I'd love to find an affordable build for the factory 3.9 v8, but if not I'll go with an LS1 or 2 gm motor which seems more potent n affordable than its ford equivalent. Most of u have had more experience n time working on this issue, so I'm asking for any help I can get.
