My gas door release button works,I hear it make it's clunking sound, but it doesn't release the gas door to open. Anyone have any solutions to offer?

Spray Wd-40 or equivalent on the door latch mechanism. Mine had that problem when I first got it, a little shot every year keeps it properly lubed.

Voila, it works. Thanks so much. One more thing fixed. Now to try and get the cigar lighter hole to put out juice. I already ruled out the fuse. Anyone?

No problem.

What's the socket doing, or not doing?

sometimes the wiring comes loose. the fix is to pull that panel it mounts onto and hook it back up.

I just checked in the dark and the light bulb attached to the side of the cigar socket is lighting, so it is definitely getting juice. Do cigar sockets just quit working?

Power and ground is all they require. I'm guessing corrosion or one of the 2 connections popped off.

I'm not getting any electricity with engine on.

Just to clarify, it doesn't work at all correct? Not just when the cars turned on?

A couple pics of the console I took apart last year....

The light is on the same harness but has separate wires feeding it.

correct. the lighting power comes from the dimming interior light stuff circuit.

the actual power for the cigarette lighter comes from elsewhere as it is constant 12 volt power.
its usually that the connector for that middle terminal has fallen off.

Is it possible to get the piece you have pictured there out without pulling the whole console?

Yeah, just pull the panel and it comes out with it. The ground almost ALWAYS pops off. I ended up just yanking mine out and using it as a relocation spot for my OD button since my shifter handle has a broken switch inside.

I'm almost positive that the socket can't be removed from the top as I believe something secures it from the bottom. You'll have to remove the entire console. :(
