Gas Mileage

I was driving 55 *cough* to the courthouse in the next county and decided to see what the gas mileage said after filling up with some good juice. Then I took a pic to share so I'll show you mine if you show me yours:

drive it a hundred miles and check it again . mine is consistant 26 mpg at 75-80 mph but thats in florida not alot of hills .

That was about 30 miles after I filled it up and reset the meter. Do you have a pic?

Seems about right. Then again, that thing is not exactly accurate. Paper and pen is only way.

Were you driving down hill with wind to your back. I get 22 if I'm lucky

LOL! I was driving down Sparta mountain.

It usually averages 17-26 depending what I am doing. Lower if I'm in town playing around....

lol, I think the pic was taken while coasting or just after a reset. Mine is around 27 to 28 and sometimes 29 if I'm at a slower speed of around 60 mph. If you reset it after filling it up, it takes a little while to make it's way to the right spot and then it will slowly start giving you the real readings and that 33 will come down into the 20's.

That steep one with the scenic look out spot? You were coasting! Mine is up to 14mpg right now going up slowly, that's with 70 miles of driving with 3 gallons of gas!

That's the one! I felt like I needed a jake break going down that mountain.

Sounds like you do a lot of stop and go driving. The car I acquired was mostly Interstate mileage going from Knoxville to Nashville so it's not as hard on it.

When I had my 94 I got it to do 32 once on a trip from Kalamazoo, Mi to Mid Michigan Motorplex in Stanton. With my current car I am lucky to get 17 average, but I have a lead foot.

I think I averaged 27 once on the highway going cross country.
The rest of the time, it was about 25.

Around town, in Florida, it's a consistent 19-20.
When in a real city, like in the North East, it falls to about 15-16.

I am getting 18mpg in the city full of stop signs and lights. (smaller city) No highway driving. I drove from where I live 20 miles to Fort Worth and had 27mpg, according to the readout. The only mod I have is exhaust pulled off after the 3rd cat.

Weird thing happened to me the other day, it said 82 miles to empty, I left for my 47 mile drive to work, figured I was good. It was dropping like 5 miles every mile, wasn't even paying attention and it says "empty fuel tank" and I'm like WTF and ended up rolling in on fumes 17.917 gallons to fill the tank!

I drove down to the Atlantic Highlands in NJ to look at a T-type when I had my Gen 1. All Parkway and I wound up getting 425 out of a tank of gas. I used to work off Exit 4 Rt78 for a year and I was filling up at 350 or 375 after fill ups, so that cars average MPG was pretty spot on.

My Gen 2 has only been hitting 300 between fill ups but it's all around town driving pretty much  Haven't taken all to many road trips with it yet? Oh wait I do occasionally make a trip to the only Roy Rogers I know of that is real and that's in Pine Beach so it is a bit of a road trip. Not enough to get an accurate reading to tell if my 98' lies to me :shifty:

My wife's '97 LSC is getting about 18mpg right now. But she only drives 10 miles a day round trip to work and back. My '96 is gettnig 22mpg average driving 80 miles a day round trip to work and back. But the '96 needs a set of plugs, plug wires, IAC, TPS, and a few other things. So it could be much better.

I think I am normally around 18. 19 if I am lucky.

What GMAN said....

...don't necessarily trust your info panel.
Mine hasn't been accurate for years. I have no explanation for why but it always calculates the mileage wrong.

This isn't going off the distance on the info screen, it's going off the miles driven from the trip odometer under the speedometer, and the gallons used according to the info screen. IF and that's a big if the gallons used is correct I'd be a happy person!

I just put a shorter than stock tire on my car so the speedo is off by 5 to 7mph at 55. So thats gonna screw up my mileage readings now :(
