ok,someone chime in here please,
have a complete spare rear end assembly,
i think i want to buy some 3.73 gears and a limited slip setup, build it all ,then swap out my stock setup in my mark.

what parts do i need/should i get?and where can i find good instructions on doing it all.

any thoughts or opinions appreciated, except opinions about my choice of 3.73's,i am dead set on them.

ps. one of the limited slips i was thinking of is the thorsen type, any thoughts?

thanks folks.

Torsens are good, so are the true trac's. Basically the same type diff. Auburns are good for street, but death on the track. If you go to the ford racing parts website, they have all of the bearing and seal kits for the irs housing. They also have housing parts themselves if you need them. You can even buy the torsen or truetrac thru them. Funny, they used to have a 3.73 irs housing already built. Unfortunately the number doesn't break anymore.

Carrier stud kit, master rebuild kit that includes ALL bearings and races, gears, stock Ford posi is all you will ever need on the street with no power adders, 21 tooth purple speedo gear if your going with 3.73's, metal matrix carbon composite drive shaft (Dennys Driveshaft Services) and a chip (call me) for the speed limiter.

hey guys, just want some clarification on the speedo gear. I was told with the gen2's that you don't need to worry about it because the speed is calculated off the front tires and as long as the diameter of the front tires don't change you're fine. I don't agree with this because spinning my tires off the line I see my speedo indicate more than how fast I'm actually going. This is telling me that its either based off the transmission (which would need a speedo gear) or the rear tires. Any thoughts on this?

geno quick question, if you have a one piece driveshaft (like me) do you need to get the one denny makes, or would mine be suitable?

You do need it for the message center to read properly.

Your rolling the dice. I have only seen maybe 2% of the stock one piece units work fine.

Related question, I've got a chip already in my 96 LSC 3:27, is it programmed for the gear or unrelated? I bought 3:73s I didn't know if it had to be reprogrammed for the gear swap. Do I need the purple 21 tooth too? Is the accuracy of the message center the only problem I'll have without the 21.

Your top speed limter will be lowered with the gears so if the chip has the speed limiter raised then you will be roughly at the stock speed limit range.

hmm... thanks for the info buddy! only way is to find out i guess huh? from your knowledge what would cause the stock one piece's not work? not balanced properly maybe? or just that denny's is more heavy duty?
