I was looking at the 4.10s that scp has, and they say that it is recomended that i get a forced lube kit for the tailshaft bushing. This is something i have not heard disgussed when uping the gears. First of all, what is that, and is it nessissary or recomended, or is that just a way for them to get me to spend more money than i need to?

Total BS never had it mine or ANY geared Marks that we have done for the past 7.5 years and NEVER had a single problem.

These are the gears we use and aremade for Summit by Ford Motorsport.
Hey geno, whats your opinion on richmond gears if installed correctly by a professional?

I like them but they are finickey with the clearances. I had a set that sang like a bird and a set that was dead quiet.

A gear head that I know had a set of gears polished for his track only car. He told me that it was better to do so, as it had less friction. Would this make a difference in gear whine?

Now that I went for a ride in mike's car, im just itchin to get my trac-lok. That thing really scoots off the line even with the stock stall.

45-50,000 miles with 4.10's in my 95, and no problems with the tailshaft bushing, so don't sweat it. Thanks Brandon, it'll be 500X faster next time you ride in it. Jeremi's car got me itching for more power. :D

The tailshaft housing is usually only done by Crown Vic owners who upgrade their gears. Their tailshaft is longer than ours- which may explain why they need to do it. I've never heard of any Mark VIII bushing failure as of yet...
