I,thought some of you guys might want to see what you'll find once you open some Gen 1 yellow headlights. Took forever to bake the lenses off, at 250 degrees. Cutting the lenses off is easier, but I'll get a better seal when re-glueing them on when they fit into the channel, instead of a butt joint. I wonder where all that chrome went.???

I just finished restoring mine, they looked worse then that surprisingly. I used a heat gun to take them apart though, and it went very quickly and seamlessly.

You didn't start to Chrome Brite any of those, did you? If so, they look COMPLETELY perfect around the curves and rigid back which is amazing lol.

How do you plan on restoring them?

Your LSC lights came out great. Reg gen 1 lts are smooth with many angles that chrom Brite doesn't bend to. I use many small strips of CB and clear coat. The bubble lenses hide a lot. The set on my 95 has held up for around 2 years, using 8000K hid's. Some of the chrome looks ok, but it's crap.
I'll be doing them with CB. I still have the patterns from when I did the last ones. Ole Bruce made me his HDLT guy, I like being the rattle can king much better. I have a set of gen2 that I'm playing with to try some mod's on. First things first.

I used chrome rocker panel tape from az. So far so good. 1 1/2 years now or something like that and holding up good. Also many/many small pcs. 6000k hids in the highs and hologens in the lows

I have some rocker panel tape, but when you put it next to CB, there is quite a difference in briteness. The RP tape is 6" wide, vs CB 3". I'll try the RP on the larger top and bottom sections and see if it's noticeable. I'm going to paint the blk difussers with high temp silver paint, just the outsides. When the lights are off, the low beams look a little black. My CB tape should be here by Tuesday. CB was the only tape that states high temp.

fwiw, awhile back I ponied up real $$$ for some 96 HID's...the buckets are immaculate, I can't find any missing silver coating; the plastic is pretty clear, not yellowed, but it is kind of 'etched'...not sure if i should try to polish them or not.

with my first and only effort restoring base gen 1's, I messed up when polishing the lenses- they got too hot from a lack of compound-dry buffing...caused some hazing/cloudiness from within the lens material, ---

dnsherrill - Consider using this method here - http://forums.tccoa.com/showthread.php?t=135095

I did this myself, and also just did my Mark lights. I haven't done a final sandout yet on them, but, they don't look bad at all - tiny amount of orange peel, put, that could be easily wet sanded and hand polished out also.
