Hi guys,

I was originally going to install the M7 JBL radio as I had one wired for a direct line in. With talking to others here, I have installed a single din M8 radio to gain the dash space, to be able to install the Asham 8 right above it. The line in is easy - the radio has a line in jumper (6 pin) top right - hardest part is finding the wiring harness at a recycler, as lots sell a radio wiring harness but not the CD changer portion of it and this is what is needed to tap into the line in. I may have to make my own harness.

I have all the speaker line outs to the amp figured. This was easy - they were the same colors (just a couple of darker variations (brown and purple) When splicing the older speaker harness (8 pin) from the earlier M8's and M7's into the 16 pin (2nd Gen) I noticed all eight speaker + and - wires and also a ninth wire that didn't have any insulation. Looks like a ground or shield?

Wondering if this should be hooked up to pin #14 in the 16 pin harness that is stock in our M8's? The wiring digram lists #14 as "shield"

Does anyone know what the #14 pin is for? Is it a shield for the CD, radio or amp or all?

I had two single din's I pulled from a recycler. One had the Lincoln Star the the other didn't. The one with the Lincoln Star on the cassette door had scratches on the LCD display and when I put it in to test it the cassette deck didn't work with the cassette adaptor and I plan to use this until I have time to create the line in for my mp3 player.
So I took apart the radios and removed the face plates, then removed the cassette doors and re & re with the other cassette door so the radio deck that worked would have the proper Lincoln emblem and no scratches on the LCD display. The single din does need to be cleaned, as it has been sitting for a while and by the looks of it so does my ride. Still cold here in Ontario Canada. Been waiting for a nice day to clean the interior. Happy I now have space to install the Asham 8 and need to find a supplier that could "print" a face plate for me. I would like it to look stock and light up the Asham buttons with proper wording. I plan to install a park drop switch to be able to turn this on or off. Do not think I will ever have it on as I do not require the car to lower when parking, but since it is an option on the Asham, why not add the switch for it. Also want to add the suspension on and off switch and maybe one for neon now that I will have that working too. 20150426_204245[1].jpg20150426_201859[1].jpg20150426_201445[1].jpg
