I am all fired up about the cobrastar emblems. I just wish more people would stop talking and buy. I will be buying later this week when I get paid.

Also....

We need more people to commit to the custom gauge faces for the 97-98 Gen 2 Mark 8s. Speedhut only requires a credit card number commitment, and the only charge when they get the required 25 orders. It's at 9 right now. Where are my Gen2 owners? Help!! Here's the link.

Let's get the ball moving again on this, and place an order with Geno, dangit!

Don't hold your breath here. I started the ball rolling for the Gen 1 gauges. Before I even sent in the gauge cluster, I had 15 ppl that said they wanted a set. At that time, Speedhut only needed 15 pre-orders to get the process set in motion. Well, 2.5 years later (and by then we needed 20 pre-orders) I got the necessary amount of pre-orders fulfilled and got the gauges. Most of the ppl that actually made the pre-orders were not even the original 15 ppl that said they would purchase them in the beginning.

So, what I am saying is GOOD LUCK!!!!! It may take a while for enuf ppl to wanna pony up the money for the gauges. :shifty:

Meh, it's worth a buck to me. If it comes, it comes, if not, then not. If only 15 more people would just put up for these gauges. I understand that there is a slim possibility of this happening, which is why I hadn't done it before, but seriously people, it's just a frickin dollar, and then you just have to have about $100 waiting 4 weeks later so they can bill you for your order.

If we can't get just 15 people to do that, then there's no hope for the Gen 2 community.

These are CUSTOM gauges. Select your color, background, your own graphics! Come on people. Get on this already. 10 people oboard, only 15 more to go.

Oh screw this. They charged me the total price for the gauges. I'm not going to let them hold onto $100 forever. What if they never make it? Screw these people, and screw their product.

I'm either getting a refund tomorrow, or they are getting a chargeback. Nevermind, they only have NINE orders now.

what will the guages look like because when i click the link it only shows me that i can design it not there is one all ready configured for the order unless i'm missing something?

I actually went through the design process on the website, and my end result was really cool. I don't believe they would hold you to it once the orders finally happen and let you resubmit what you want.

Dominus, it should not have charged the whole thing. They messed up. I did not get charged the whole thing. I'll bet they fix that for you.

They do not show you what YOUR gauges will actually look like, they give you an idea of what they will look like. The reason for this is IF they do not get the full order, they are not going to set up the gauges on the outside chance that the full 20 pre-orders will show up. That would be ALOT of money for them to do all that work, and not make the full 20 pre-orders.

If you want I have them for my Gen 1, and I could repost, or put a linky here so you could get an idea of what they might look like, not only in the day, but I have pix of them at night as well.....of course you can get them in reverse indiglo (which is what I have, with some custom touches that NO one else can get), and you can get them in regular indiglo (where the whole gauge lights up and the numbers are laminated onto the sheet). Lemme know if you wanna linky to my gauges....they are already posted here on the site several times if you wanna do a search.

oh yes please do post the link :D

Not to hijack the thread, but how much work is involved in changing the gauges, or, more specifically, changing the face of the gauges.

I'm thinking about adding the LMS white faced gauges but I'm unsure how difficult it will be to install them.

Holly crap i just took a look at the FAQ section and look at this,

http://www.speedhut.com/tech_notes_detail.asp?auto_number=6

i haven't taken apart my dash but i hope it's not anything like this, Though maybe it was screws holding in the clear plastic

Does anyone have a tutorial for that process, or can someone give some quick instructions. I just saw the one 1wykdmk8 put in his GEN1 and it looked incredible.

WOW.

OHHHHH HELLL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats not how you do it, it is screwed in, that looks like a gm cluster, its not too bad just pull all the trim thats in front of the cluster and pull the cluster the only hard part ive encountered thats hard was trying to line up everything, the sets i had ( on my explorer and on my t bird) all you did was remove the needles and place the thin piece of plastic over the existing gauges, wire it up, and place the needles exactlly where they were, but if u move the needle a little bit during installation or removal it is a PIA to get it lined up correctlly, on my bird, i left the cluster apart, drove down the road w/a scan tool attached set the cruise at 30 and put the needle on at 30 then back to the shop to reassemble then it was ok, my explorer was my first install........................it sucked BAD 1st on the explorer to pull the cluster you got to pull everything from the radio bezel-left and 2nd after i was finished it seemed like it was slower so i checked it w a scan tool and found out the speedo was 7 mph over actual veh speed, didnt fix it tho PIA so its good enough, thats why i did it the way i did on the bird

NO, you do not have to cut off the plastic on our gauges, NO Mark VIII is like that. Once you get the cluster out you will see that there is small screws that hold the plastic face to the cluster over the actual gauges. I have not ripped apart a GEN 2, but from what I have read both from what ppl have written, and from what I have read on the cd manuals for the car they are both (GEN 1 and GEN 2) basically the same as far as removal and installation (for the most part). BUT, if you get the gauges made (GOOD LUCK!!!) you MIGHT hafta drill at least one hole in the back of the cluster to get the wiring to go thru, or you may just hafta make a hole that already exists a lil bigger.

As a matter of fact, I do have such. But, only if you are referring to a GEN 1 do I have a detailed instructions on how to remove and install the gauge cluster. Here is the link to the directions. They, among others, are on my website, along with Mark VIII (GEN 1 AND GEN 2) part numbers if anyone is interested. If you want to check out my site here is da linky to it, but you can also click on the word Webby at the bottom of this post in my sig and it will take you to the same place.

I remember paying $20 to get the cluster sent to speedhut. I think I sent the money to Eric, who later got banned. I guess I won't be seeing any of that $20 back..

nope, I've been complaining about that for a while now, I thought he was handling the orders. That's the only reason I sent him money. Now I'm looking for him so I can bust in his knee caps! :gr_devil:

Him (Eric) being banned here had/has nothing to do with the Speedhut deal. He was also posting about the deal on other boards as well. From what I understand, he 'donated' a 2nd Gen cluster to Speedhut for the design work and I will leave the rest up to you guys as to what happened to the deposits, etc.
