Hey guys.....

I am trying to remove a lock assy from my buddies 97, and have followed the instructions to the letter to get out. I have the shift lock cable disconnected, and can't seem to get the lock to seperate. Is there a trick to this, or am i just missing something?

did you figure this out as i need to get my ignition switch apart to install an aftermarket remote start... guy at circuit city had no clue how to remove the ignition switch he said..

yea, we did......

There is a button on the passenger side of the ignition cylinder up torwards the transponder coil that needs to be depressed while the key is in the on position to allow you to pull the ignition lock out of the switch.

It's kinda tricky but once you get it the first time, it's a cake walk.

P.s

It's a BITCH to see, you almost have to jam your head up into the dash to see it.

A hooked pick is the easiest way to get it.

To remove the key cylinder, you have to push a release pin that's between the lock asy and the end of PATS sensor wire harness on the passenger side of the assy. You can see it if you look straight up after taking all the panels off. After you locate it, turn the key to ON position, push the pin and pull out the cylinder with the key.

Here are a few pix.....hope this helps, you can see it if you remove the bottom panels, and look straight up while laying on your back.
