I havent posted much here, usually i just read and search the forums for useful info, but didnt see much on this topic, even so, id still be wanting others opinions.

I soon deploy to Afghanistan.

I have a 2001 LS 3.9 that i will be storing for an entire year.

The car will be stored in an indoor facility.

I will be putting Stabill in the fuel and running it through.
Disconnecting the battery, and expecting to buy a new one when i get back.
putting the car on jackstands so i dont get flatspots on the tires.

Those are the 3 main things i can think of, i considered selling it before i deploy just because of the depreciating price thing for a year. but i really like the car and got a great deal on it.

Any thoughts on what else to do for storage?
Comments appreciated, thank you.

Is it good to keep the suspension unloaded for that long of a stretch? For flat spots, I would just put a few carpet samples under each tire, and maybe fill the tires more than the normal 32 psi.

First, thanks for your service and stay safe.

I would only add a good wax job, car cover (if not in a high humidity area), and a desicant that you can purchase at napa auto parts to put inside the car to keep it dry and fresh.

alotta people do that. i have seen several cars stored on jack stands for longer periods.

also. a battery maintainer will probably keep the battery in good shape for the period it will be sitting. might be cheaper than a new battery.

thank you for your service.

One of my brothers is in Afghanistan right now, fortunately for him I'm taking care of his mustang while he's gone. I drive it every 2 or 3 weeks.

One thing I tell everybody is to change their oil and any other fluids that might be close to needing service. Put the best fuel you can buy in it, if you have 93 in your area I'd put that in there. Put a car cover on it. Even though it's indoors I'd still recommend it. If you might have rodents I'd put some poison around the back of the tires.

Stay safe and good luck!
