I have noticed some Mark VII's have gold emblems instead of the normal chrome ones. Is there anything special about these cars?

The car with the emblems is a 1988 LSC Mark VII.

Ever heard of a Continental Kit? People would have this faux encased spare tire mounted to the rear bumper of their cars.

I've been told that there was a Cadillac Kit. Dealerships would order and install gold tone trim on a car to simulate the 1980's Cadillac option. I think that's what you have. I've owned the gold tone deck lid key cylinder but never installed it.

Other than your badges, what trim is gold?

Thanks for posting the pictures.

This is the first case where I've seen the entire set of gold toned badges used. I just gave my last gold trimmed piece to "Kahuna-Steve". He can provide a picture. The one's that I had were NOT from the 80's but were of a good quality and made for a good reproduction. If you could validate the year in which the badges were installed then that would authenticate their origin. If it was indeed pre 1990 then you'd have rare badges (albeit worn or pitted). Badges were still installed (by Ford and dealers) with black silicone at least up until 1989.

The phone in your photo is an after market item. The two models of phone that Ford installed can be found in the 1985 and 1990 brochures.

There is also a dealer installed Gold package that included gold plated emblems, trunk lock cover, and 16x7 BBS RA wheels with gold centers. Maybe your car had it, but usually the wheels are kept. Gold plating is easily done though by trim shops and it was probably done when the aftermarket moonroof and car phone were installed.

We need an example of that package Nick.

I've HELD the parts but never seen the installed "package" on a car.

Here is a link to the door tag info. Look at the exterior trim number. The code does not seem to be a normal code. Does anyone else have a code like this?

HFP doesn't show up in a 1988 nor 1989 shop manual. As a combination, it'll give you like a couple different colors but nothing specific (that I've seen).

We need someone to run this sticker through a dealership database. The HFP and the DSO numbers apear to be special order. Here is the only other special order sticker I have a picture of:

If I bought the LSC I looked at when i first wanted one, I would have a real example of the car. I'll try and send you some pics.

We could run the VIN through Ford.
