Good news and bad news for my LSC

The good news is that the son of a bitch who hit my car was lying, and actually does have insurance. The bad news is, the damage is extensive enough that they are likely going to total my car and pay me out the money for it. Their adjuster has seen the car and informed me of this.

Unofficially, he said that I'll probably get $8k for my wreck, and that buyback is an option if I really want my wreck back at auction price for a an LSC of its condition, so really really cheap.

I have already located another black on black Gen 2 LSC in the midwest, better than my old one that I will be picking up after the holidays. So, if everything goes as planned, I'll have another LSC, and I might buy back my car too. I have been taking collision repair classes, so maybe one day i'll just fix it myself.

Sweet!! If you get your LSC back, would you be willing to sell the wheels? Were they damaged in the collision? Also, how much would you want for just the wheels?

I don't have the Octa Stars. I have the Tornado wheels in chrome. I can't really sell the wheels, otherwise the car will have nothing to roll around on, and I've got no place to leave a car sitting on jack stands.

Also - dont just take what they give you - negotiate. If they tell you $8k - tell them you were thinking more like $9.5 -- Negotiate --

No, I like the ten spokes. You could probably just find some t bird rims at the junkyard with tires for 50 bucks. I dont know though, If you are able to sell them just let me know man.

Um Hotties.....let me toss in 2 cents;

1 - get all your receipts - proving good maintenance is worth a few hundred, then any repairs you've done, anything, tell them what you think you should be compensated for (will depend on how long ago repair was, usually let you go a year back) and they offer you less than you think it was worth, tell em your taking it, and take it. (no kidding). Even if you don't have receipts or it is time you have spent making repairs, claim it and get compensated.

2 - they owe you a rental.

3 - have them pay the sales tax up to 350.00 on your next car (usually if bought w/i 30 days, they will be lenient on this if you bat your eyes, [yes Hotties, it can be done over the phone])

4 - If you take salvage, check out the laws before doing it, it's hard to get insurance and even if only liab, then rob them, Mespock can help ya there (your not really robbing them they will just highball you to see if you will take it, ya gotta work em).

They will try to take you if they can. Humm, let me find my thread......

dang the hacker got my stripping thread I took the front air shocks, LSC side molding, hood shocks, inside door handle cups, wood shifter plate, HID housing and balasts, tires, rims, trunk tire cover, cd cover/box, spare tire, jack, corner psgr seat far piece dash molding (that you have to remove to replace the sidemirror), and claimed several other maintenance items I just had done. If your interested I'll post the pics again, it was work, but I was not going to let them just take and re-sell at twice what I paid for and didn't get rembersed for, that happened with the 1st one....oh yeah I forgot to mention this is my 3rd MarkVIII, by death, not by choice)!

I intend upon it, but even $8k is more than what my car is worth, and more than the price of the LSC I am going to be buying, so even if they won't go any higher, I'll still make out fine.

I'm not even going to go through any more trouble than I have to go through. Quite frankly, this whole situation is a severe pain in the ass and I want it overwith ASAP, because the more I think about it, the more pissed off I become.

I have three cars, so I don't need a rental car, nor do I want to drive around some piece of crap compact car until I buy my next LSC. I will try and get them to cover sales tax, and if worse comes to worse, I'll register my old LSC at my house in Florida.

You could put 4 wheels on a mop bucket and they'll insure it in the state of Florida.

My uncle is a lawyer, so I'll have him do all of the talking. It's amazing how much more compliant people are when they hear "Esquire" at the end of a name.

When I hit my deer with my 94 they paid me back more than I paid for the car and then let me have the car also. I got more than the car was worth...

I told them that I was going to do the repairs myself and they gave me the cash for labor and all the parts.

When I got the cash I sold the car to Scott9050 then went out and purchased my 95.

If they total the car, try to strip it as much as possible. Take things like the CD changer, the CD changer cover, cargo net, engine beauty cover items like that. You can make yourself a few bucks on eBay with those. Take as much as you can.
