Hey everyone. well i have done the airbox mods (deleting Res, and Drilling Box), and sound really good. Next... I hate they way this pig snails off the line... can anyone give some advise on how much the rearend mod helped your car off the line? the other thing. I have stock gears, and rearend. when the car really starts moving and hit 3rd gear when my MK8 hits about 110 it seems to start slowing down a bit. I was wondering if maybe my tranny might be slipping in 3rd just a little when it hits the max rpm to HP ratio. I can't tell because my fawking tack sticks at 4 grand plus i can't tell when to shift. thanks for the help. Oh yea i don't really want my car to be pulling no 2700rpm at 70 either. so give me good setups and about the performance of the gear etc :give . thanks alot guys!

Google is your friend.

With that said, here are some calculators to give you a pretty good idea what you will be turning.

3.73 or 3.90 Ford Motorsport or Richmonds should serve you well. Expect to pay $125-$200 for the gears alone.

Thanks Evillally that was the exact info i was looking for. thank for the rest of the comments all very helpful.

Call Max at Five Star Ford. He'll take real good care of you.

He sent me a 3.73 set, a Track-lok, and all the bearigns, seals, etc for a little under 5 bills. You don't have to get the trak-lock if you dont want it. That will also bring down the price quite a bit.

I never knew they made 3:90 gears! I was debating on a 373 or 410. With a 410 your car runs outta steam toward the end of the track. So a 3:90 would be a good idea. BTW my brother picked up a 373 richmond for $50 on 10 miles on it!

Motive makes the 3.90's for the 8.8 sold by Summit Racing for $210. There may be some less exensive gears if you shop around.

Part # MGR-F888390

Why would a Mark VIII with 4.10's be running out of steam by the end of the track. Do you have any idea about what you are talking about?

He probably neglected to change his speedo gear to the 23-tooth white gear, so now his shift points are off...

Thats what ive heard from a few people. no need to stir up an arguement. Done did, OVER! BTW sorry if I offended you by stating something ive heard other people say.

i'm not thrilled with the 3.73's i have.. not nearly enough gear to get this thing moving off the line... if i ever get another car for a daily driver, i will be going 4.30 or 4.56's...
