walked out of my girlfriends house today to look at my car and see that the whole passenger side was effin keyed. i just got the 2 doors repainted less then two months ago because of a small accident the car was in when i purchased it. some of the marks are deep but some arent any idea what i could use to try and get some of this out ?

Exact same thing happend to me...walked out my girlfirends house next thing you know...sucks so damn much. I was going to repaint my whole car anyways so its not as bad as your situation.

If you can catch a fingernail in it, it needs to be repainted. You could touch it up. Buff out what can be safely buffed out. Then, get some touchup paint.

1. Clean the areas to be filled with Isopropyl Alcohol.

2. Get a fine artist's brush, and carefully fill in the scratch. Better to do several thin layers instead of one thick layer. Keep layering until it is slightly overfilled.

3. wetsand the "hump" until it is level with the surrounding paint. Probably start with 1500 grit, and follow with 2000.

4. Buff out the wetsanding marks.

That's how it "can" be done. Wetsanding buffing is something that should be researched well before just sanding away. It's easy to mess up.

wow thanks a million im gonna have my dad try to do this hes a lot more expirenced with buffing and wet sanding then i am.

That sucks man, I feel your pain. Good luck cleaning it up.

That sucks man. Not in the same boat as you but I just got a free paint job this weekend. My car is now pearl white with blue spots in the front half.

Stupid effing people need to learn how to respect other people's property
Then again, some just don't care even about their own stuff, which is why I park far, far away from people. Guess you could say my LS is anti-social :p

Alax, what kind of paint was it?

Yessir. At work right now. Since it'll be a lengthy response, I need to compose it after hours.

man thats bad, one of my co-workers hit mine up with a box knife the first month or two that i bought mine, people need to grow up

Thanks for letting me know.. I pmd a few others and didn't get a response so I didn't know if I was restricted on pms or what not.

I would do what pektel said. make sure to keep the area very wet and only sand one direction. check your results very often..

Same thing happened to me, only thing different was mine happened at school. They went from fender to taillight. Even went under the mirror. Luckily my car is silver and you can't really notice it after I buffed the car.

Sure thing.

As far as the advice about sanding in one direction. That does work, but if you alternate when switching grits, it's easier to check your work, and remove minimal clearcoat. Say you sand side to side with the 1500 grit. When you switch to 2000, sand in an up and down motion. That way you can see when all the horizontal marks are gone.

so i had my dad try and buff out some of the marks most of it came out but there is still a huge line =[ my dad said that well take it to the body shop this weekend to see what his friend can do with it

The huge line is what needs to be filled. Is it down to the primer or metal?
