You read it. I have a Mark VIII now and I like this car, but I've moved up to MN and the winters here will have much more snow than where I used to live.
So I am looking at getting a FWD car for my Daily Driver.

Question is 95-97 STS or 97-02 Conti? I like the looks of both, they have good performance for what I need (or should I say wife). The only thing I am wanting is seats that are comfortable during a long ride (8+ hours) and good gas mileage (27+). My Mark will do 28-32 MPG while traveling and I would like to stay in that range.

What are the good points and bad points of both cars?? I'm all ears :waving:

IDK it depends what you want more STS are more high performance, and Continentals are more lugerious they both get the same amount of gas milage. Go to cars.com and look at the Ratings & Reliability of them both. The only thing that keeped me from getting a cadi is that its northstar engine is a bitch to work on from what I hear so labor fee get high. But I would say if you test drove them both you would be reminded of the power of you Mark in the STS. Although your wife would probly LOVE the Continental just guessing b/c my mom loved my conti.

I would assume they would be close in power, since the conti has the intech...

Thats a tough one. It is more a matter of styling. The STS looks better than the Conti. I have not owned a Seville. But have owned an Eldo and a Mark VIII and a Continental. My favorite was really the Eldo, sorry to say I am a die hard Ford Guy. The NorthStar is really a sweet motor. Lincoln or Cadillac are both high maintaince vehicles. I currently have a Mark VIII and the Intech is best suited to the highway. Where as the Northstar is an off the line screamer. Both engines are the really the same power wise 275-300hp depending upon model. I did feel the Cadillac had the torque steer better handled as they have been in the front wheel drive models longer than Ford or at least the high horsepower models.

Thanks folks for the replies. It looks like I'll have to do some test driving of both cars ( oh darn ) to see which one comes out on top. The FWD don't bother me as that is the reason I'm looking at just these two models. I also would rather have the somewhat better ride, or should I say seats, over performance as this will be the car I use to go back home to see the family.

Later :waving:

I would say it is strictly a matter of choice based on driving the 2. They are roughly the same as far as performance and what not - so which do you like driving more?

Going off of looks alone, i would get the sts... im not going to lie... the only thing i find attractive about the last generation conti is the rear end... but reliability issues with the caddy would push me into buying a town car. =)

from what i have heard the caddys burn oil to fast stick with the lincoln

If your looking for ride confort, your not gonna beat the Caddy... I've driven all of the cars mentioned here... Every Lincoln... And my 03 Caddy with the Mag Suspension rides incredible. In terms of performance, the STS comes with 3.73:1 gears, so you'll notice a significant power increase when you stomp on the pedal in the STS. Just my perspective, but I've only owned my STS for a couple of weeks... So, still a little excited. :C
