Has anyone used the GTEC-Pro that i keep seeing on tv? Does it actually work like they say?

I have a G-Tech, and it seems relatively accurate. I know NYC LSC has one as well. We both have had the same results; it seems the 1/4 time is pretty close, but the trap speed is a bit high. I think it ran ~5mph too fast, but that might not be consistent between faster cars.

I have a G-Tech, well 2 of 'em. One old and one newer but not THE pro model.

I also have the Tazzo. Beats G-Tech IMHO.

Yeah, I have one, like Josh said. And like he mentioned, the ET is usually pretty close, but the MPH is generally 5 mph too fast as compared to the drag strip (they both use different methods to determine your trap speed).

Back when the car was stock, it was more accurate. Now with the new motor, it's not even close. Two days before I ran the time in my signature, I took the car down to the old illegal 1/4 mile strip near me. The G-Tech flashed 14.6 @ 98 - which, if keeping that 5mph too fast thing, would have been 93mph. I was just a tad pissed lol

From what I understand, cars that raise the front end a lot on launch tend to throw the meter off a bit. It's a fun thing to play with, but that's about it. I mean, they're cheap enough that you won't miss the money if it's not perfectly accurate.

Yea, I've been told that the G-Tech will only read up to 1.00G. I haven't yet checked into this on my own, but it seems to make sense that it only reads to 1G. So, the quicker you go, the more force you create. Anything over 1G won't register on the meter, so it will cause your e.t. to be slower than reality. Another factor to consider is that the meter must be exactly parallel to earth. When you launch, the meter becomes tilted and creates a miscalculation as well.

Just remember that it is a ~$40 tool (off of ebay) and is better for test-and-tune situations than actual times. It creates a good baseline and is precise (not so much accurate), and if it tells you that you are faster the next time, you really are faster, just not necessarily by the exact amount it reads.

It seems like the GTECH is slightly quicker than reality in my experience. I got a 5.79 0-60 with it, I think my car is really like low 6's.
