Stop at home to pick up a few things while getting ready for a BBQ at a friends house.

As I was leaving the Mail Man came by and I took the mail.

I notice an envelope addressed from the Lacrosse County Clerk of Courts...

Curious I opened the letter. It was an official court letter with my name being listed as the Defendant over some Habeas Corpus issue.

Now I didn't have time at that moment to check this out and being Saturday I couldn't do anything about it. Also, not being in the legal field I didn't have a clue what Habeas Corpus was and also not time to look it up. But enough time to think what the Hell!!

So I went back to my friends where I began to help him mow his lawn (yes I'm a good friend, plus it was my new mower). Through all the loops of his yard I kept wondering what the hell and who was this guy listed as the petitioner, and when was I last in Lacrosse county and did something that could have been led to legal actions.

Well after I got home from mowing the lawn to take a shower pick up my wife and go back to enjoy or stress at the BBQ. My wife and I began to search the net first for the court case to see what it was about... we couldn't find anything listed under my name and with that case number.

The my wife looked at the letter again and noticed the the middle initial was "S" mine is "L" so I began to think I'm ok nothing to worry about I knew that there was another guy in the surrounding area with my same name.

Then she looked and noticed that the last name ended "ter" not "der". OK It's not me... and that my address wasn't on the envelope but just what looked like my name and then the City and Zip Code (yes in my little town if you address with just my name and the city I will get the mail).

So we check.. this other name through the court listings and there he was ... an inmate at our local Super Max (oops we are not allowed to call it that anymore) Prison.

Then we looked up Habeas Corpus which deals with wrongful imprisonment and a bunch of other legal jargon...

Ewww! You got a Goldwing? And I thought I was an old man. :p

Hey wait If I drive a Lincoln I'm not an old man LOL.... but if I drive a Goldwing I am....

I've been driving Goldwings since I was 24 years old... When you try to put over 5000 miles on in less than 7 day like I use to ride that Goldwing feels great...at any age LOL :p Back at you

A little more info.... Prisoners often file Habeas Corpus petitions -- but thats usually in Federal court, not state court.

There is also a Habeas Corpus Ad Testificandum - which is usually sent from the State courts -- Habeas Corpus Ad Testificandum is a writ (order) issued for the purpose of bringing a prisoner before the court, usually so that he may testify in that court. Often prisoners get such things issued for things like divorces (women dont always like to stay married to people serving time in a super max prison - especially if its a long sentence)
