i need help. where in the trunk would i be able to hook up a remote wire to turn on my amp. i just installed my loc and but i cant get the amp to turn on =/ AND YES I HAVE TRIED THE ANTENNA
it might be my ground too i tried the tail light bolt i cleared all that gunk off of it but im having second thoughts if it that is bare frame or not im pretty positive its not ill go quickly try a different place then tell you
I used one of the tail light housing nuts..grounds just fine there..my amp sits where the cd changer should be, I ran my remote to the deck, but you could try a hot wire in the back deck..like the one for the compass sensor..that's hot all the time when the car is on...or run from the ign fuse with a toggle, or the remote wire for the factory amp, just splice into it
And FYI, never run your amp without a load, I did that on accident once , someone broke in my jeep and tried to steal my system..so I took the subs out and left the amp..since it was bolted and welded to the car...went to put the box back in after the alarm was fixed and the amp was fried because I didn't disconnect the remote
It's the black one with a purple stripe or vice versa can't remember but it's the only one with purple...that's the 12v ignition wire
Dont use a tail light bolt as the ground. Thats not a good ground. Also the 4awg ground wire makes no sense with an 8 awg positive feed thats so long its as if it were 10 awg.
Make a ground just for the amp on the floor. Drill a hole in the corner of the floor and then sand off the paint where the ring terminal fits.
As for a switched positive, there is one on the factory amp. I dont know the color as they may change through the years. Just locat the factory amp and unplug its harness. Use a multimeter and locate the switched positive and tap from there.
If not then usefuse #5 in the fuse box. Its the fuse thats the left most on the second row. Should be 10 amps and be vertical.
