i need help. where in the trunk would i be able to hook up a remote wire to turn on my amp. i just installed my loc and but i cant get the amp to turn on =/ AND YES I HAVE TRIED THE ANTENNA

run a wire from the back of your head unit unless you are using factory then run it from the fuse box

man i want to help you but its to dam dark out to take a look at my setup..

quick ? where did you ground to? I have been looking for a good ground and cant find one

it might be my ground too i tried the tail light bolt i cleared all that gunk off of it but im having second thoughts if it that is bare frame or not im pretty positive its not ill go quickly try a different place then tell you

thank you. I tried the left strut mount but every time i hit the brakes or turn left my amp cuts out and I tried the rear seat mount but it did the same when i hit the brakes or a bump.

I used one of the tail light housing nuts..grounds just fine there..my amp sits where the cd changer should be, I ran my remote to the deck, but you could try a hot wire in the back deck..like the one for the compass sensor..that's hot all the time when the car is on...or run from the ign fuse with a toggle, or the remote wire for the factory amp, just splice into it

i ran it to the 4 volt blue wire at first but it didnt work

Because you need 12v to turn your amp on
hook your ground first...then your RCA then remote then power to batt...it's the method I use so I don't short the amp and kick it into security mode (which I've been told kills the amp) LaserSVT chime in

And FYI, never run your amp without a load, I did that on accident once , someone broke in my jeep and tried to steal my system..so I took the subs out and left the amp..since it was bolted and welded to the car...went to put the box back in after the alarm was fixed and the amp was fried because I didn't disconnect the remote

note taken thanks sapper

It's the black one with a purple stripe or vice versa can't remember but it's the only one with purple...that's the 12v ignition wire

errr there is an ignition wire in the trunk? :p i dont wanna run a remote wire up the car, i dont trust my self taking all the interior pieces and stuff off. the power wire was even to much for me but i maned up. its not that im not capable its just i dont want to do shiz i dun have to yenno?

You can get a voltage meter from Sears for $10 and see
Were you have 12v key on power its that easy

I used a signal from the tail lights. Turn on the lights and vwala. It scares the hell out of people when you pull into a parking garage and the auto lights kick on.

im about to throw a baby at my car! well the amp that is, i KNOW the amp works, i just cant get the :q:q:q:qer to turn on. ive tried everywhere for that :q:q:q:qing remote and it wont work. does anybody at all have any ideas. heres how the amp is set up. i got an 8 gauge power wire going from battery to a fuse block then to the trunk which is hooked up to the amp, then i got a 4 guage ground going to one of the taillight bolts. then the remote has gone to idk how many places and it still wont turn the amp on. i ive killed my battery twice trying to figure this :q:q:q:q out. then my mothers POS pontiac g5 wont even boost the lincoln. god facking damnit.

Dont use a tail light bolt as the ground. Thats not a good ground. Also the 4awg ground wire makes no sense with an 8 awg positive feed thats so long its as if it were 10 awg.
Make a ground just for the amp on the floor. Drill a hole in the corner of the floor and then sand off the paint where the ring terminal fits.
As for a switched positive, there is one on the factory amp. I dont know the color as they may change through the years. Just locat the factory amp and unplug its harness. Use a multimeter and locate the switched positive and tap from there.
If not then usefuse #5 in the fuse box. Its the fuse thats the left most on the second row. Should be 10 amps and be vertical.
