I inherited a 2000 Gen1 Lincoln LS from my parents a couple of years ago... The car had 35,000 on it in 2010, and now has 50,000. I drive it primarily in the spring/summer/fall, since I live in Minnesota. The sport suspension was really harsh when I got the car, so I swapped out the sport springs, for the regular springs, had Monroe shocks installed, and softer tires put on. The car was in dire need of new brakes, so I just had the local Firestone dealer put whatever he wanted on the front and rear... As everyone knows... The Gen1 LS has soft brakes, and was thinking about putting braided brake lines all the way around, with Bosch rotors, and top of the line NAPA brake pads... Does anyone have a suggestion for improving the brakes? I had the PCM updated which seems to help the shift points. I purchased a KKM air filter, and have contacted hite337 for a heat shield. I thought I would get a SCT Tuner from Torrie.
I would like to put a LSE grill on my car, but the outfit that you guys used to purchase a third party grill from went out of business, and I don't quite understand the retrofit process some people do with the Gen2 LSE grill, in order to fit on a Gen1 - Any coaching would be appreciated!
I have fixed all of the standard problems on the car... Valve cover gaskets, plugs, coils, window regulator, leaking front head lights, airbag warning light, etc.
My next project is to upgrade the front ball joints from a Gen1 to Gen2... The Gen1 and Gen2 control arms, and knuckles are the exact same, the only difference is that the Gen2 has a larger ball joint... Has anyone else done this upgrade/swap? I know its pricey, but I got the car for free...
If anyone has some suggestions on how to make the car perform better... I'm all ears!
