Has anyone added push button start to their LS?

No but I want to... I wonder if the bypasses for remote stars will work to make these systems work with the Ford PATS system....

Would be cool. The LS's key slot is perfect for where a button would be.

sounds like a hassle to work with if you combine it with an aftermarket remote start system, but never heard of it....looks pretty cool tho.

Yes Quik has it, used a honda S2000 unit, there is a write up about it. I'm not sure if its on this site, I know its on LLSOC

Yeah, that would be a pretty cool mod. So remote start system just warm up the car for you and then you have to turn it on yourself again?

Well remote start is one thing, Push button start is another... I'm not sure if you could combine the two... If you could, you would start the car with your remote transmitter, then when you get in the car, just push the Start button I guess to leave. Thinking about it, that set up would probably be a hassle.. I would be happier with just the push button start.

Yeah I know they are different, but I was just asking if you could drive the car by starting it with the remote start or would have to stick your key in the ignition to turn it on yourself to drive it.

I know on normal cars you get in and if you press the brake pedal to shift before you put the key in and turn it to run it kills the engine, so I'd assume in any set up thats the way it works, now in cars with factory pushbutton start, I'd guess you just push the start button before you try to drive. With our cars PATS you would still need a key somewhere.

Now that I think of it, I think Quik's car still has the ignition where it should be and the pushbutton start is in the ashtray lid.

That Gallow unit looks like it belongs in a riced-out Honda. Yuck! The other looks nice, and I've loved the system in the Nissan's I've rented. That said, though, for $420+, I think I'll have to stick with the key.

remote start and push button start are the same thing actually. the alarm does what you would do with the button. very simple. you would have to press the button if you had remote started the car already. its good to use a s2000 button cuz you can find them cheap from parted out cars usually. bought mine for $20

whats the point you still need the key to unlock the steering shaft and to allow it to shift into gears

but yes you could use a R/S bypass for the pats system, if you could get around the other stuff

i always thought it was stupid in an S2000 to have to put the key in and turn it THEN press a button to start the f$%&er.

however if you could get a system like the new Lexus's or corvette's where you dont have a key to turn just a wireless key module that could be put into your pocket and then just have a button to press to start, that would be sweet.

The steering column doesn't lock on the LS........

Yeah I got a kick out of the tow truck driver putting the seat belt through the steering wheel to help "lock" it in place. I guess it's pretty common for them to do that, I had just never seen it before.

The few times I needed a tow I always insist on a flatbed truck.

You know, I never thought to ask when it got towed that one time. I think that Lincoln even states to have it towed on a flatbed truck. At least that's what I remember reading in my manual. I will insist on the flatbed from now on as well, as it was scary riding in that truck with the driver. I was scared for my car.
