girlfriends birthday is coming up, and she needs a new radio in her car. dose anybody have any experience with HD radio, specifically the JVC KDHDR20

I do and it's with a JVC...my opinion is if you are not within 25 miles of the transmitter, forget HD radio. It will constantly switch between analog and HD (it doesn't cut out like satellite, but you can tell a difference. With that being said, if you are on one of the sub channels, it will cut out like satellite radio). It's a great concept, but it's results are far less than desired. For it to work like it's supposed to, they'd have to have repeaters within 25 miles of each other in their DMA. More if it's in a congested area (a lot of trees, buildings, terrain). If you have a good selection of HD stations in your area AND you're most of the time in the city, if the deck is equipped with it, then go for it. If you are in a suburban or rural area, forget it.
