Ok so I was told the easiest way to install the headers is to remove the K-member. What the heck is it, how many bolts, and does anyone have a little diagram or something so I'm not removing bolts to something else. Wouldn't want other parts to fall on me when all I need is to drop the K-member!

The K member is the large structure that holds the engine up.
I'm not trying to be an ass, but If you dont know what one is it might be a better idea to have someone help you or do it for you.
Its not an easy job, and removing the K member is just the start of the job, theres plenty more to do afterward.

Chris, are you telling me that if I drop the K-member I'll have to either hoist the engine up or have a cherry picker holding the thing up while I'm taking the K member off? I just like to have an idea of things before I start. I like to know everything involved. I thought the header installation was mainly getting to the bolts. I wasn't expecting to remove the bottom end of the car to access it. It doesn't bother me to have to put a full day of work in to do this I just don't want to run into things like needing specail tools.

From some of the Mark VIII guys I have talked to it is about an 8 hour job to install headers, supposedly you do have to drop the K member. If you have never done this before I would suggest letting someone who is familiar with the car do the job!! Depending on where in the country you live there are shops familiar with this install.

It IS about getting to the bolts. The easiest way to get to the bolts is to take the K member out.
You either ned to support the engine with a large piece of square tube and a chain or a cherry picker.

Good deal, I can use as many hands as possible.

Well what kind of headers are they. I was able to get my set of KOOK Headers in with out removing the k member. But from the way it sounds YOU better live this to a pro. I think there right 8 houres seemes resonable. I was not able to spend more than a houre or to on it at a time.
