Why does Ford not fix the headlight problem? How many people have the problem of condensation in the headlight? Even when it dries up it leaves a film on the inside of the headlight that is impedes visibility. Anyone else think this is a problem? Did they fix this problem on newer years? Mine is a 2001 LS.

The reason there is no recall is because it is one of two things. The first being that people had the chance to take the lights in to the FLM store to get fixed when the car was still under warranty and the other being it is not enough of a safety issue to warrant a recall.

And the answer is yes.......they fixed the problem when they used the black sealent to seal the headlights.

Yea, I got a nice new light after my accident on the passenger side, but they left the drivers light so one looks great and the other is well, you know. Just extended the warranty so I'm going to call and find out about the drivers light and see if I can have it replaced.

Just take it apart and rinse the inside of the lens with rubbing alcohol (removes water spots), wipe the inside lens clean with lint free cloth. Put it back together and silicone the outsiide and it will never leak again. You can do a search for the disassembly procedures.

Dude, Mazda wouldn't issue a recall on their Second Generation ('86-'91) RX-7's that had a defect that (if not carefully watched for) could cause fuel to spill out of the Fuel Pulsation Dampener onto the HOT rotary exhaust manifolds (or REALLY freaking hot turbo) and ignite, causing an engine fire. And to boot, the problem happened most often when the car was just turned off after driving and the owner had walked in the house with his car in the garage, only to find his garage soon on fire.

If they wouldn't issue a recall on something that serious, it's going to be tough to get their parent company to make a recall on a headlight. Ford is hurting right now, they can't afford to do anything. Visteon is about to go bankrupt (along with GM's Delphi), Ford is cutting benefits to their retirees, etc... it's not looking good, and a recall isn't going to help them one bit.

In short, don't count on it.
