I know this has been covered before but..

On a Gen1, how do you make it to where the Low beam bulbs stay illuminated while the Hi beams are in use as opposed to them flip flopping between usage?

There is a modification that you need to do on the harness at the multifunction switch... I'll see if I can find the article.

Need to jump two wires in the MFS with a scotch-lok.

Just to clarify some things.

Ignition Barrel

If you just want to remove your ignition barrel you do not need to reove any other stuff - just use the access hole to push in the release pin one ignition is set to run - takes 10 seconds.

Splicing the MFS Wires

If you know exactly which MFS wires to splice, you can simply undo the nuts that hold the steering column in place and drop it down into your lap - you will see the wires coming out the back and you can splice there. Remember: red with black stripe and red with yellow stripe need to be spliced for US models.

This method cuts out the need to remove the ignition barrel and column shrouds. Might save you 2 mins!

Fuggin tard! You asked me about this before and I told you then showed you. Why didnt you just ask me for the 4th time yesterday? We could have done it then.

So, now that you're so well versed - how is this done again?

I'm kidding (as I hide), please don't shoot! :p

All mine come on, 96 Linc wants his like that, so I was getting the info for him

You know..trying to HELP someone, as opposed to just chastising them all the time... Next time I see you, try to stand with a little more posture so I get a nice solid shot at your tiny peen

or get a MFS from a crown vic... not wiring modifications needed... Did this on an explorer plugs right in just a different wiring configuration in the MFS. try it from a pull a part. If i wouldve know about this before I did the modification I wouldve but now I could care less.

teh cote hangurs FTW.

also, i used a relay harness with diodes. more power to the bulbs cuz it doesn't go through 18yo undersized wiring and the diodes keep the low's lite when the hi's come on.

Yup, I figured this out for myself when i converted mine to aftermarket HID's. In my case, I spent some time with the factory wiring manual, and determined which two wires going to the back of the MF switch I was dealing with, then bared 1/8 inch of both in mid-run near the plug that goes on that switch and bound them with a single strand of copper pulled from some scrap wire, then hit the joint with a soldering iron.

After that I carefully taped them and it works like a charm. And the solder joint is better than a scotch-lock for continuity too.
