On the 1995 MarkVIII the lights when switched to bright, just the two lights are on, I have been told the 1996 Mark VIII all four lights come on when
switched to bright. Can the 1995 be modified to do the same as the 1996,
if so explain how this may be accomplished.
 
no, in the 96 model, all four lights do not come on. 96's were the same as 93-95's, with the exception being that that is the year they introduced the HID lights. They were an option, so not all of them have it. I believe only the LSC had them. 97/98 had them std. I dont know if you CAN get all four to go on at once, but would it realy help, no.
 
the 4 your talking about are for HID's

A hid bulb requires some "warm-up" time. If they turned off during highbeam operation, you would have a couple of seconds of darkness while you waited for the bulbs to warm up when switching back. To remedy thins, Ford changed the wiring around to run the lows all the time.


I have heard of people re-wiring the car to run both at the same time, and yes It does make a difference. You can notice this by driving at night, and holding the "flash to pass" function held back. I used to do this in the 94 when I would drive it at night.

I'll try to find some examples of what to do, and post em up here.

You can do it in 2 different ways. You could wire up a relay that when the high beam is on that the low beam comes on/stays on as well. Or you can simply put a diode inbetween the low/high beam wires that when the low beam is on the high beam stays off, but when the high beam comes on the low beam stays on. With the diode it allows the current to flow in only one direction....hence the low beams are on, but not the high when the headlight switch is in the low beam position, but the low beam is on when the highbeam is actuated.

My car has the later (diode).

Do you have a diagram showing us how to do it, if you have time?

Also you told me I could make my fog lights come on with my automatic headlights.
 
My 95 Mark VIII has unbelieveable lighting for a Mark VIII. I don't know why but they actually work!!

You can call me crazy but I can actually drive at night with only the low beams on and I can see down the road and they actually light up the signs down the road.

Now my 93 nope!!! and I even have pretty clear lens on my 93.

I've had other Mark VIII owners drive it and they've all said wow!!

But I would like to see how to do what you said Ray with the wiring.
 
Here is how I have mine wired up. Using a relay will require a bit more work and wiring......I was a bit lazy....LOL. :Beer

got my head lights to work ray, thanx. i sould be getting those new driveing lights in next week. did you ever find that diagram for hooking the light up to the automatic switch?

Glad that I could help.

I did find the diagram for the fog/driving lights. If the following does not make sense please let me know and I can try to clarify. The following diagram is so that the supplied switch that comes with the fog/driving light kit (IF it comes with a switch) can be omitted if so wanted. You can simply not have to run any wires into the drivers compartment thru the firewall with this diagram. Once the headlights are turned on the fog/driving lights will come on. They can be wired to the headlights, or to the parking lights. BUT, if the switch is still desired, then wire the fog/driving lights as described in the kit and do not use this diagram to do so. This diagram is only if you do not want the switch/wiring run thru the firewall into the drivers compartment. Also, you need to remember that if you wire it up this way there is no way to turn off the fog/driving lights unless you turn off the headlights/parking lights....depending on how you wire the fog/driving lights up.
