I was just wondering out of the people on the board that have these is it better to buy the tvs already in the headrests or just buy the tvs and pay someone/put the tv into my existing headrest myself. I was thinking it would be better to buy some that were already in a headrest that looked like mine because then all the work would be done, i wouldnt have to worry about messing it up, and if i ever want to sell the car i can just put back on the original headrests? Just wondering everyones opinion or what they have done in the past.

If i buy the entire headrest i was looking into something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8037008075&fromMakeTrack=true

if anyone also happens to know a better deal on them please dont hesitate to tell me lol

I went with the Innovatek 8in setup off Ebay. In my opinion the install is way too easy to pay a shop. When I was looking around the cheapest I found was $400 and that's if I provided the monitors. The tan did not match so I went to a quality paint store and got the correct dye. It's not the best picture but here you go.

I just recieved my 8inch screens off ebay today. Gonna get em installed soon as i get a chance. They look great for the money!! Question, when painting the leather or vinyl, did u do it urself? If so, is it hard?

Tell me about the install. I have an indash player with outputs and am thinking about the headrests for the kids. How deep are the monitors? How did you run the cable?

hey guys i used to install these monitors and all types of custom audio/video installs but tell you the truth since we have the LS the best thing to do is get a monitors that come with the headrest bracket what this does is that you can install the bracket on the 2 chrome rods that makes the headrest go up and down what this does it makes the monitors portable so you can take it home if you park in a bad neighborhood and I live in new york city and that is a must. you hardly will notice the bracket when you bring the seats down- i seen some on ebay for like 250 for 2 monitors with the braket -- very nice and cheap, so you might want to take a look at those as a option -- i am getting them and i will post some pics of how it looks when i do the install.

Really not sure how deep the monitors are as they came preinstalled in the headrests. The cables run through the posts. I just ran the A/V cables from the indash unit through the center console and up through a small opening at the bottom of the seats. Of course you have to take the seat backs off. Once you get the backs off you'll be shocked that anyone would ever pay to have this done. Good luck!!!

here are my 8 inch screens. im worried about the headrest being too big as Ilnate said.

I'm telling you, every one who has seen my car thought they looked factory. Only us advid LS owners know they are big. Trust me, you'll be the only one who thinks look out of place.

So all you guys reccommend just buying the tvs with the headrest included instead of cutting into it and doing it yourself?

I think the factory headrests would look good too but you would definitely need a much smaller monitor. I might buy some cheap monitors and give it a shot.

with stock headrest, the most you'll be able ot fit is a 5 inch, or even a 6 inch..

if you are buying these for you kids.....they will have a hard time playing video games on anything smaller than 6.5 tRUST ME.....I have a 7 and sometimes its hard I had a 5 in my truck and it was pointless.....Get the 7 or 8 inch......Innvotek makes a 7 in the leather already also....

So how far off is the grey ???

go with Myron and Davis... Circuit City is selling them already installed in the headrests for $1100... is that price too much? they are 7 inches... 6 inches for $700, both prices are for the pair

LennDaaawg is on the right track.. Myron and davis is good stuff

also check out savv, visualogic.. Thats if u wanna sepnd.

so 1100 for 2 installed 7 inch Myron and Davis monitors is a fair price? cause i cant WAIT to get them in the LS... still got a lil more savin to go

you can get em for 500-650.
look around

but I reccomend working with the headrest you already have in the LS. Putting a sleek after market alpine 6.5 inch tme. You can get em in touch screen. And if you need to get em done for sheap. Send you head rest and screens this way. I will pm you all list of a few screen that will actually fit the LS head rest

headrests much be much bigger in my 03. I swear I could fit a 42" plasma in them.

Myron and Davis is top of the line, however, there is no way I'd pay $1100 when I only paid $350 and installed them myself. Mine aren't for show just for the kids to watch movies on trips so...I guess if I wanted the top of the line stuff Myron and Davis would be the way to go. Don't forget to take pictures.
