Hello all,
I just purchased a 2001 ls8 sport this tuesday that is fairly loaded. I have a few questions however. I would like to know if i can have heated seats installed seeing as how it did not come with that option and if I could fit a fixed monitor (navigation purposes) into the dash without modification. I honestly cannot tell if it is a double dash or a one and a half. I would basically like to know if I have to buy a flip up or if I can buy a fixed headunit. If it matters at all I have the 6 cd player in dash. Thank you in advance for any helpfull words of advise you may have.
Michael

P.S. If it helps the moniter is a 6.5" double DIN moniter Kenwood KNA-DV4100/DDX-7015 if anyone has heard of this model before. Thank you once more!

heated seates requires special leather if i am not mistaken, leather that "breaths" anyways the hu deck is double din. you might need to modify a mounting harness for it to fit properly.

You will have to make a surrounding for the fixed monitor, unless you want to see whats behind your dash at all times. A flip out one will be easier to mount, fits into a metra dash kit and will use a metra harness. Personally, I like the fixed screens better.

That is a sweet head unit, my friend has one in his 4runner. It will fit in a double din space, and the stock moutning brackets from the stock radio should attach with screws, so no custom fabbing is required. He did put an abs plastic surround around it.

Do you have the music keg as well?

Screw just the nav purposes, ground the parking brake wire and watch dvd's whenever.

Yea that would be great, however in reality I would proabably be using the navigation more than DVD since I do a lot of driving to places i've never heard of for work purposes.

One more quick question guys. Does anyone experience a problem with their radio when the rear defroster is turned on. For some reason whatever station I am listening to turns to pure static no matter what the station is and quite frankly is very annoying.

Check the antenna connection on the middle of the rear window just behind the headliner. If it is loose or shorted out it could be picking up interference from the heater coil in the window.

Glad somebody else brought about the "rear defroster radio remover" feature... I was wondering what the deal was.

Did you ever get your's fixed kleetus, I haven't gotten around to mine yet

You can install heated seats, we had it done on my mom's LS. The seats are fine and the heat works well. Special leather for heated seats? I don't think so.

Thanks for the info, if you don't mind me asking, about how much did it run you?
