So its cold out, I havent been driving far enough for the car to warm up, but today I happened to get it up to temp. And the heat wouldnt work!!! Also the car has been running hot for very short periods of time. The temp needle would jump up to red and then go back down right away. Are these symptoms of a bad heater core? Its probably even a bigger PITA to replace than I can imagine.

I don't think your heater core is the problem.

It could be air in the cooling system.

Is it a gen I or a gen II? A gen I could be a bad blend door actuator motor, a gen II could be a bad blend door arm. As for your temporary oerheating problem, either air or a bad stat.

You thought that was bad...

Just thank god you don't have to replace your heater core...

Yeah I work at a chrysler dealership and a guy there was like if you ever have to replace the heater core on that car just sell it.... lol

If I ever have to replace my heater core, I'll just bypass it. Not much need for heat down here.

I charge 8-10 hours just for LABOR on that. the WHOLE dash comes out. I recommend to replace EVERYTHING since i'm in there. If you have the $$ for the labor, might as well be in there once, right?
