the forum seemed kinda slow so id figured id wake you guys up, anywhoo. some of you might have seen me around here maybe not. my explorer was recently in a flood, i guess they CANT float after all, so now im lookin for Lincoln aviator to replace the explorer. i know about all the normal FOMOCO probs, windows, rear axle seals etc, im talkin about any thing else out of the norm i should look for. whats with the "luxury" option? all look the same options to me, any major differences between the years?

welllll the 03-04 came in a luxury or ultimate where as the 05 was tagged into one. the ultimate basically adds moonroof, HID's, and heated/cooled seats. they all ahve leather, auto lights, dual ac, etc. I think nav is seperate on all (i got a eclipse double din for my 05) mine didnt come with HID so i bought oem hid offline for about 500 for both... its def alot smoother truck that the explorer... my gf has a 04 eddie bauer and its a whole different beast it seems even though tis same frame and stuff...

I've been driving one for a few years. Pretty smooth ride. Tranny has some mystrious downshifts here and there that are more of a bang then a shift. Happens very rarely. Otherwise very smooth. Wide open throttle moves the shift point to 6k rpm. The shifts at WOT are perfect. Engine is strong, and feels like it has alot more potential (as it obviously does being a Mustang Cobra engine). Interior is well designed, but cheaped out in a few ways. A few options missing but has a few options I haven't seen on many cars. For example redundant steering wheel controls for A/C temp and fan speed. I also like the white interior lighting, have received compliments. I think the wheel and tire package it comes with makes the ride look smaller then it is. I'm going to replace with at least 18"-20" rims when the time comes. If you look at a profile view of the car from far away, it looks like the wheels/tires are way to small for the vehicle. I've had/have many nagging problems that a thread here covers in detail. Other then that I don't regret purchasing the vehicle. It's pretty much faster then every SUV and most cars. Always a good thing.

wow, i forgot about this post. sorry no aviator here, it would be nice, but so is no car payment. getting a 00 explorer for cheep now, maybe a aviator in a few
