Hello, eveyone. I have been looking to buy an LS for the past couple of months and recently stumbled on this website which i have been on for the past week. Its great to here all the stories. Some are encouraging while some are dissapointing. None the less I am still very interested in buying an LS. I found one recently a 2001 V8 sport with 91000 miles for $9,995. I would like to know what you guys think and also if anybody could possible check the vin number that would simply be amazing. 1LNHM87A51Y635654 Either way hello to everyone and I truly appreciate your thoughts. Call your local FLM dealer and see what they can tell you with that VIN number. Good luck with the purchase and welcome!

Thanks for the welcome... I already called the dealer and they said they have nothing on the car since it was not serviced in their local dealership. I would also like to know what anyone thinks about the price and mileage. Thanks again

Welcome to LvC! You'll find any and everything here. Also, you may want to run a CarFax on that particular LS. This will show you things like who owned it and how it was titled. Also, it will show any repair information. I ran a CarFax on several cars before I bought my LS. I believe they let you run several reports for one price. It may be more for more reports.

Again, welcome!

CALL 800-392-3673 (Ford Customer Service), they will tell you what recalls have been done, and if the warranty is still good, if the title is clear, etc... then do a carfax to find out anything else major.
congrats on the new buy! :)

Thanks for all the welcomes... what about your opinions they count just as much.

Sounds like a good price but its sooooooooooooo disappointing how fast this car depreciates its REDICULOUS...but i assure you that you will love the attention you get in this car (if you like that kind of thing) :L

I am partial to higher mileage luxury cars that have been well-taken care of. You're at less than 1/3 the price of new. Is there more than 1/3 life left in the car? That is how I look at things. New cars are bad investment. Depreciation is too high. A good used car that was taken care of is a better buy imho.

well I paid 11995 for a v6 with 32k miles or so... they had a few v8s up there for around 15 with 38k miles...

One of my co-workers bought a brand new 2005 V6 LS this weekend for his wife. He said he paid $24,600 for it with all the incentives. I tell you what that's a helluva deal for a helluva car! Right now is the best time to buy a car. Incentives on these cars are outrageous!

I checked your VIN and here is the list of warranty work that has been done on your car:
MAY 14, 2001 - Grille has defect in paint......replaced
JAN 03, 2002 - 35,000 mile maint. performed
APRIL 08, 2002 - Steering control for radio inoperable.......replaced
NOV 15, 2002 - RR window inoperable......replaced both RR and LR window regulators
It also looks like you might have an outstanding recall for your rear seat latches. Hope this helps you. Oh yes, you seem to be getting a good deal, however, I would have the car inspected for normal problems associated with these Lincolns such as ball joints (and the rest of the front suspension), valve cover gaskets, and cooling concerns (such as hydraulic pump, fan.motor, etc).

Wow thanks a lot for running the vin. I am planning to get somebody to check the car out. I will probably be looking at it in person by the end of this week... I shall let you know. If the dealer doesnt show me a carfax report then I guess I will check that out as well. The dealer claims he has put all new brakes, tires, and struts on the car just recently. From your vin check it seems like no big problem... how come the dates are so far behind... there are no recent checkups on it? Thanks again for all your help.

The only way there will be a report on your VIN through OASIS is if the work was done under warranty at a FLM store. So, if the car switched owners (say after a 2 year lease), it is very possible that the next owner either was not aware of the remaining warranty or did not take it to their local FLM store. Correct me if I am wrong, somebody?
