My LS 2001 V6 overheated. On closer inspection I found that this one part shown in the pic bellow was the problem. I went to the dealership and they quoted a $250 price. The rip off is that this piece is one piece of a 4 piece cooling system set. So the dealership sells the whole 4 piece set for $250, but all I need is this one part. The other three hoses are fine. Any ideas what this part is and where I can get it??

I'm really stressed dealing with the dealers! Please send advice if you got it. Thanks everyone.

Part Number

There is a part number or something like that on the tube. (backwards Y)W43-8b502-AA, if that helps. The part was located underneath the intercooler. I know someone out there's got to know what this is!

The part is just plumbing for the coolant fluid. Nothing electronic, no pumps. Seems to be just a hose, but it does have a valve with a hose that goes to the intake (this is what blew off, in the first picture it is the smallest diameter pipe on the left). I guess when the intake needs cooling, the vacuum pulls the coolant through the hose and runs it to the intake.

that is a YW4Z-8B502-AA hose and retails for 203.00 and lvc is $118.76 I can have one tomorrow and ship it to you.

double post ?

Duh, yeah. I replied in the other thread and then found this one. I feel so used.

The good news is that the price from Max is a great one and greatly beats the $250 from the dealer to a guy off the street!

I may need one of these myself, as I have noticed a trickle of green coolant from the plastic to rubber crimp on the largest part of the pipe.

Ford has plenty in stock and can get all you want...let me know and Ill get the order going!!
I hope you noticed the true retail compared to the other quoted retail one to lsmardiz!!

If you're feeling adventurous it seems like you could go to a hardware or plumbing supply store and make this part yourself for a fraction of the price!

Issie...There is a lot more to this than we both thought and your pic shows.....it even has the t/stat and housing attached and all the hoses...this is an octupus!! it is shipping today and you should see it on next wed or thurs. I would replace the complete assy.

had a reply typed for Trucker, but then looked at his profile and found that he has the V6, when I thought he had a V8. Sorry.

Max thanks,

I figured it might involve a hose or two, or eight, but the service does not look too complicated. thanks for all your help.

i have had the same problem and my ls is over heating trying to find the same part less then $200.00

a common failure point on the v6

you're not the only one to have that problem..you could probably make one your self, but at Max's price, why bother.
