So i have a problem with my door lock.. one day i decided to lower my windows using my key for THE FIRST TIME.. after that it never worked using the remote control again..

i was told by a local body shop.. some members here.. and someone at team ford that my door lock actuator prolly went bad.. the door works with the key.. but from the remote control/door panel.. the door wont lock or unlock..

there is no door lock actuator sold for the LS, so i replace the whole locking mechanism.. it cost me around 100+ in parts and about 3 hours to install because i did not want to take the whole door panel apart in fear of messing with the window..

i finally finished everything but my door lock STILL doesnt work from inside, or from the remote control..

what i would like to know is, what would my next step be? is there a fuse or wire that i should check.. if so which one..

i would also like to remind those readin this that i have lambo doors.. but i highly doubt it has affected anything because all i did was change the latch on the door and weld a new one.. i did not mess with the wires themselves in any way..

since i have lambo doors it is really hard to take apart my door panel because my door only opens out about 9 inches and up after that.. so i have no window operations or locking operations from my door until this is fixed because i dont want to keep opening and closing my door panel over and over..

please help.. i really want to get this resolved

well im not either but I would guess that if you have lambo doors that maybe you pulled a wire out?? since you didnt make the wires longer maybe.....Im not sure but couild it also be the remote it dead?? or no programed for your car anymore?? I didint see if you tried this or not......I hope this might help but probally not....

I guess a few questions to ask is that:

1. Can you hear the door locking when pressing the key fob?
2. Can you manually lock the door using the lever inside the car?
3. Do the other doors lock and unlock?

The key fob is what you press to unlock and lock the door. It isn't the actual key.

i hear the door attempting to click and lock/unlock but nothing happens.. all the other doors work.. lock/unlock

If it's attempting to unlock then it sounds like to me the connecting rod from the actuator to the locking mechanism may have come off. You'll have to take the door panel off to see if it is connected.

my door panel already off.. how do i knowwhat the connecting rod is?

If you 'hear' things moving around when you press the unlock/lock buttons on the remote - then the signal is getting to the receiver and the receiver is trying to do something with it.

So it seem like something mechanical - when you look at the inside of the door you'll see where the solenoid actually moves back and forth to engage/disengage the locks. it's probably something there....

solenoid? i have nothing around the lock itself.. i replace the WHOLE locking mechanism.. from the lock.. to the peice that physically pulls the lock open and closed..

maybe i should use a power tester and see whats workin and whats not.. but the thing is..
which wires should i check?
do i have to click the lock and unlock button to test it?
how do i test the solenoid and how do i identify it?

is the big connector on the latch fully seated.

look at the door latch from inside the door, look at the rods, do they move when you unlock or lock the door.

you replaced the entire latc/actuator/cable assembly right?

2002 lincoln LS.. i didnt state it in this thread.. but i did in the other one..

as far as the latch.. actuator, cable.. i replaced everything that goes from the actual lock(latch) that locks the door.. to the peice that takes the feed from the cables(actuator).. and the peice that connects to the lock, above the door handle from inside the door(cable)..

i have a feeling that there is some sort of cable that goes from the actuator to the box insdie the door panel that has the problem..

i just find it "funny" that it happened ONLY when i tried to lower the windows.. i have had the car for over 1 year and this happened only when i touched that.. hmmmm
