this is crazy! I opened the hood, checked levels, went to close the hood and didn't close first try, tried again and heard the latch hit, looked at it and noticed the hook that slides up and down when you move the yellow lever is all the way up but the spring is still attached, should I try to close it or what!

I'm tryin to post pics now.

Anything you an offer is appreciated!!!

sounds almost like the latch is in the closed position? Try pulling the release from the inside of the car (grease it up a little) I've seen this happen with doors before where the latch closes before the door is shut and the door just bounces open again when someone tries to shut it, but never with a hood. Oh, just remember something, if the release doesn't pull the handle back (the one inside the car), push it back yourself. That used to happen to me with my tempo, the cable went bad and it wouldn't allow the spring to pull it back in, maybe that is what you are trying to explain?

Nice to hear from someone so fast - thanks!!!

I tried the latch inside, nothing. The pics are in my garage, I can't get them small enough to post in the thread (I'll figure that out later!).

When I press down the latch, it just comes right back up like there is nothing tohold it down for the inside latch. But I did hear the cable pull the latch when I tried it from the inside.

I layed the hood down on it and the latch does not go into the hole when the latch is up, I'm not sure if it is supposed to function that way or not.

Glad your on line!

Thanks!

it looks like the thing is in the closed position? Have you tried to pull the latch to the left (I think it needs to be slightly to the left so that when the hood comes down it slides to the right and then the down force brings the hook back over the bar connected to the hood). you've got a pm

Dave,

I took a screw and put it in the spring to hold the latch that is sticking all the way up a little tighter. Remember how I was telling you when I press the protruding latch down it will go into the hood hole putting the screw in there brought the latch down allowing it to go into the hole) the hood and got it closed. Yup I'm not gonna try to open it till tomorrow or till I get to the Dr.

Still give me a ring tonight - I am very interested to see what your gen 1 latch looks like. I'm gonna go run a few errands - talk to you tonight! Thanks a million!!!!!!

Oh know Debi, not something else. He this is a small issue do don't worry.

Dave is a good guy and knows his :q:q:q:q so I'm sure you'll get it fixed

Hey MeSpock,

How ya doing?

Yup another thing to add to the list - oh well, your right, I will get it hooked up, and be able to unhook it too :) Thanks for the reassurance ;)

Yup, Dave was right on time :)

my cadillac is acting like that, did you just replace a spring? was it that simple?

my mark will not close unless you manually retract the cable spring with a screwdriver - try doing that.
