Today I went to scan my car since it felt like it was knocking so I thought it was a bad coil so I went to scan it to see what # coil was...then my mechanic tells me the code P1702 which readed Intermittent System Malfunction or something like that...

Please help me find what is my problem since I did a search for that code here and got nothing

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!

Thanks man...now i only need to know which part to replace since my tranny was rebuilt completely in July

sorry, I'm not knowledgeable about the codes. But, my car had been knocking on accelerating. I had been using fuel additive, and had the dealer clean the whole fuels system. No Help. When I had to have a coil replaced, they replace the sparkplugs (tuneup) and the knocking stopped.

this code just showed up along with 0708. not experiencing any transmission symptoms yet.

little info out there - any help guys? much appreciated.

P1702 = Transmission range sensor circuit intermittent malfunction
P0708 = Transmission Range Sensor "A" Circuit High

Both of these are talking about the DTR (Digital Transmission Range) Sensor. It's on the outside of the transmission, on the driver's side. It could be that the part is bad, that it is not adjusted (installed) correctly, or that there is a wiring/connector fault. I suppose it could also be the PCM, but it probably is not in this case.

thanks joe, as always. i'll get under there and take a look. can't seem to find a part # online in case it needs replacing.

Well, if I knew the year and engine...

Edit: Looks like that doesn't matter. Should be: 5W4Z-7F293-AA
