Help removing shift knob (after screws removed)

I found an older post from Pektel which shows how to remove the bottom ring of the shift knob, and the two screws. However, Mine seems stuck. After removing the screws, I cannot free the knob, it feels almost stuck or glued in place. 2004 Ls V8

Is there an additional step I am missing?

Reason for removal is to free up the silver shift plat (PRND) for painting.

No other steps in the service manual.

You could try using a hair dryer and gently warming it up. It might expand it enough to break it loose.

Nevermind, got it off. Just took some good old persuasion.
