Im looking at buying a set of 17x8 rims with a 20mm offset, currently they have 225 tires on them and i will probably upgrade to 245, will there be any clearence issues? im thinking they should be just fine but would like to see pics of some installed before i buy these if possible or hear from someone with experience with this setup. thanks for any help.

why 17 and not 18"?20mm offset sounds like a mustang offset (or at least a lot of th ones ive seen) typically 36mm offset should give you the clearance you need and is what youllfind for most mark viii aftermarket rims in 8-9" size. theres not much out there for our cars unless you hub swap or use thecustomwheelshop.com, or temple, supercoupe that offer sizes that are direct fit for the mark viii, but alot of them are on back order.hers a couple of calculators for tire size...

and backspacing....

good luck go 18"

36 mm is good for 9 inch wide wheels.
the rules change for skinnier wheels.

as for 17" vs 18", tires are cheaper among other things.

20mm still seems awfully low even for a 8" wide wheel.

yeah it is.
like 3.2 inches of front space.

my wheels have 3.5 inches of front space and 275 tires. so i would think he'd be ok with 245s.

When you did your hub swap you used aftermarket cobra rims or are they the real deal you have 275 all the way around. These days the price difference isn't that much especially with all the different brands. You can get bf goodrich or falken 18" cheaper than goodyear or firestones

Sounds like hes buying some Volvo wheels.

they are actually wheels that were on a lincoln ls at one point and time, getting a hell of deal on them, $100 for 4 nearly new rims and so so tires but i plan on replacing the tires as they are only 225/45/17 currently and thats too small.

i found another set of 17x7 with a +42mm offset but i think those would be tucked up too far into the wheel wells, am i right in thinking that?

geez. return key and period button.

yes, they are real ford wheels with 275s all around.

but even so, the 17" versions of the cheaper tires are cheaper still.
