so yesterday I was driving and all of a sudden my ac just turned off and the screen went blank, and then about 5 secs later it started again, so i thought nothing of it, but today when i was going home the same thing happened except this time it stayed off for about a minute, my air bag light came on and the screen above read check charging system, then it went off, came back on again and then every 5 minutes it kept turning off again and back on, anyone know what could be doing this or what's wrong with my car? I'm about as mechanical as a 3 year old girl, so I have no clue :)

thanks,
scott

Actually, it's prolly the regulator, or the brushes. You can buy both for around 30 bucks. Install it yourself, and save the cost of the alt...and the labor. :)

You have to be careful with that advice......93-94, and some 95 alternators can not be rebuilt. The diodes are spot welded to the case, and when you open the case you will break the diodes and the alternator will not work.

So, just be careful!

i'm gonna have to call big :bsflag: to that one! Just got done taking out my altnernator and calling around for the regulator and brushes and the cheapest one was $99, 3 times the price of $30 that u said. So since the new alernator is $150, i'll just wait next week and buy a new alternator. If you know of anywhere that has a $30 regulator please let me know because I called Napa Auto parts, O'Reliey's, Autozone, Pep Boys, and none of them where even close to that $30 price tag, $99 was the cheapest I found.

Raise the BS flag all you want. Contrary to popular belief, chain stores are'nt the best place to shop all of the time.

This is where I got mine. I don't remember the brand but I could find the box for it and let you know.
