I've determined the hydraulic system for the cooling fan is not working properly and instead of shelling out the >$500 I don't have to get it replaced, I want to switch over to using an electric fan. There are plenty of threads in which people discuss this, but they quickly turn into discussions of alternators or wire size. So, can someone who has done this please post the complete process?

there is a good write up on this somewhere in the forum, has everything including the pulley replacement and part sizes. keep searching.

Seems like he didn't like that one...

I haven't found any threads that go into detail showing exactly what needs to be done. As I stated earlier, every thread I've read (and I've read quite a few by now) go off on a tangent very quickly arguing about whether or not the factory alt can handle the added load of the electric fan or where you should tap the power from and what gauge wire to use. Nothing goes through the complete process. If you know of a thread that does that, please post a link.

Joegr, the link you posted on my other thread was simply a google search for that topic. I followed through to different LVC threads but couldn't find any that did everything.

I'm no master mechanic or electrician. I know my way around a few things but this is something I have never had to deal with and it's definitely something I don't want to screw up by trying to piece together different methods by different mechanics. That's why I need the walk-through.

I don't think you are going to find much more detail than was in that first page of results. If you need more detail than this, you may be better off to hit the local junkyards and get the parts that you need to fix the hydraulic fan system.

not gonna lie, Joe gave you all the info you should need for the job...

if that is not enough, then the info you must still need is a phone number of a place that will do it for you...
