i have 97 mark viii but i have strong fumes coming from somewhere i replaced the vent valve but that didnt help do anybody have any ideas

smells just like the fumes that comes from the evap canisters when i replaced the vent valve thats when i figured thats the same smell i been smelling

I think everyone's had this issue at some point. Disconnect the black hose underneath the rear of your car that goes from the evap tray to your trunk. Point the hose downward & zip-tie it to a part of the chassis of the car. DONE! No more fumes. Had that happen with my 97.

It’s happening to my 97 LSC but today in morning I followed your steps and it seems to be working like you say. No more ‘gassy’ fumes in the cabin or when my windows/ sunroof are open. Importantly when you say remove the hose , when I was laying under the car it’s the hose that’s to the left side of the evap tray rite ? Like the hose that connects closest to the vent solenoid’ correct ? I didn’t touch the hoses to the right side of the evap tray that have white connectors... jus wanna be sure !
